I did fucktard, none of the universities use a hypen. However on the UNC system map page, it reads UNC-Chapel Hill... the ONLY one. No logos or reading that I saw on the universities' web sites show a hypen but the University of North Carolina administration chooses to use a hypen for Chapel Hill. Guess someone didn't get your memo.

Looks like UNC-Chapel Hill is the way it is. Go back to Wal-mart for that correspondence course.

UNC Charlotte

UNC Charlotte is the fourth largest of the 16 institutions within the University of North Carolina system. It serves the people of North Carolina, with special emphasis on Charlotte, the nation’s 35th largest city, and the surrounding 13-county metropolitan region, which includes 1.5 million people.
With enrollment approaching 20,000 students (45 percent men, 55 percent women), including about 4,000 graduate students. UNC Charlotte is the largest institution of higher education in the Charlotte region. Enrollment is projected to increase annually through the year 2010, bringing the university a projected student body of more than 25,000.

Students come to UNC Charlotte from 98 counties in North Carolina, from 44 States, and about 80 foreign countries. Minority students, including African-Americans, Asians, Hispanics and Native Americans, comprise about 25.2 percent of UNC Charlotte’s student body.

UNC Greensboro

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro was established by legislative enactment on February 18, 1891. The City of Greensboro, situated near the geographical center of the state, was selected for the location of the new institution after its citizens voted bonds to the sum of $30,000 for the erection of the first buildings. R. S. Pullen and R. T. Gray gave the original tenacre site. The institution opened on October 5, 1892 with a student body of 223 and a faculty of 15. Classes were organized in three departments: business, domestic science, and teaching.

The institution came into being as a direct result of a crusade made by Charles Duncan McIver on behalf of the education of women. Other pioneers in public school education -- notably, Charles B. Aycock, Edwin A. Alderman, and James Y. Joyner -- came to Dr. McIver's assistance; but to him, more than to any other individual, the University owes its foundation.

In the past century the University has evolved in its mission, as suggested with its sequence of names. It was known first as the State Normal and Industrial School, and after 1896 as the State Normal and Industrial College until 1919. During the period 1919-1931 it was known as the North Carolina College for Women, and became the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina from 1932 to 1963. It is warmly remembered as "the WC" by its many alumnae of the period.

During the years 1932-1963 the University was one of the three branches of the Consolidated University of North Carolina. The other branches included The University of North Carolina (at Chapel Hill) and the North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (at Raleigh). In 1962, the Board of Trustees recommended that the Greensboro campus become coeducational at all levels of instruction in the fall of 1964. Subsequently, by act of the General Assembly in the Spring of 1963, the name of the institution was changed to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

UNC Pembroke

UNC Wilmington

Over the past decade, UNCW has strengthened its undergraduate teaching and overall academic excellence to become one of the top 10 public universities in the South.

UNCW is recognized nationally for its marine biology program and offers a Ph.D. – in marine biology, one of only three such degrees available on the East Coast.

The film studies program benefits from the university's proximity to EUE Screen Gems studio. The door for "big screen" opportunities which is frequently the backdrop for movies and TV shows, including the Dawson's Creek series. The creative writing program has received much student demand and external attention. It offers a bachelor's degree and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing.

UNCW is a popular choice for high school students seeking to continue their education. For the fall 2004 class, there were 9,615 freshman applications. Since 1990, enrollment has risen steadily from nearly 7,000 students to nearly 11,500 for fall 2004. The average SAT score for freshmen was 1127, and their high school grade point average was 3.63.

Funny thing about that map........ You can count on one hand how many ACC schools have visited ANY OF THEM. Guess the ACC is scared of ALL of them huh??

HP and kickazz are both correct.

1- the map shows the all schools are UNC-whatever

2- if you watch the NCAA bball tourney, North Carolina is ALWAYS shown as just UNC .Not UNCCH. however UNCG, UNCW, (and until UNCC changed their name) they are called just that. theres no actual hypen, but you get the idea.

its a prettry dumb thing to argue about. no different than people in Columbia saying Carolina meaning Gamecock, and getting offended when anyone out of SC thinks Tarheels.

People in SC don't get offended at people outside of SC for thinking 'Tarheels'. They get offended because 'Tarheels' insist that there's only ONE 'Carolina'.

And State is always shown as 'NCST', but you'll not find that acronym anywhere on campus, in publications, or on apparell.

once again on a national scale, if someone on the radio/tv says Carolina, they think Tarheels, Jordan, or for christs sake stuart scott. they dont think of Spurrier or Holtz. they say South Carolina, or Gamecocks. they dont even say USC, thats a whole other argument right there.
