Not many 3-8 years under Amato. I will also say they are competitive with EVERYONE. You of all people should see how demorilizing it is to say lose to UVA 55-20 or whatever. 34-0 to Louisville, Utah, What was that score?? OK they were good so its all right to get blown out.(You guys seem to think) How about Maryland last year......42 points in ONE Quarter. Or UVA last year. Did Shaub complete every pass??You know how long its been since an Amato team lost by that many to Anybody?? 2000 loss to FSU. Only time. Thats playing with a true freshman QB, converting Dlineman to Olineman, numerous injuries, True freshman playing on the Dline, lousy recruiting by his predecessor, etc. etc. All the excuses we hear out of the UNC camp for the blowouts Chuck has had to deal with also, and HAS KEPT THEM COMPETITIVE, at FSU(Where they have lost 77-17 in the past) Ohio State, Maryland, UVA EVERYWHERE. Yea it sucks to lose close games. Hurts like hell, but its much better to at least be in the game in the forth than heading for the parking lot, at the beginning of the 4th. As coach V said "put yourself in a position to at least have a chance to win". Chuck does this every Saturday.
The predecessors didn't. Thats the difference

yeah, I wouldn't call Chuck medicore at all either. Only one losing season, 4 bowl games in 5 years, hell of a recruiter, winning record against all of the in-state schools, won the most games in a single season in NC State history,.......etc.

The argument is that he's never finished in the top 3 of the ACC, and therefore, mediocre. 4th place is mediocre to fans of historically great programs.

well he's no Toney Baker but signing Montario Hardesty today makes up for the disappointment a little bit.

True, but having a Tarheel fan call Chuck mediocre is just plain stupid. UNC-Ch doesn't have a better football history than NC State does. UNC-Ch holds the series lead over the Pack but NC State has won 7 ACC fooball championships and UNC-Ch has won 5. Outside of that, there is no prominent national history on the two programs. This is just the pot calling the kettle black.

I'm a State fan and I'm almost positive that UNC has had more football success than NCSU.

    UNC
All Time Football Record: 613-449-54 (.573)
    CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS (9)
    BOWL GAMES (12-12)

    NCSU
All Time Football Record: 504-485-55 (.509)
    CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS (11)
    BOWL GAMES (11-10-1)

Actually it's pretty close other than a better winning percentage for UNC
