To wash or not to wash?

    Mushrooms. Do ya'll wash your mushrooms even eating them raw in a salad? I don't because I think they soak up the water and don't taste as good or have as good of a texture. But I've always felt funny about not washing them. I've never gotten sick though.

    Yeah, you are supposed to brush them off with a little scrub brush. Screw that, I rinse em good but don't submerge em.

    I dont rinse or submerge...specially portobello's, crimini's, shittake's and the like. If anything...brush them or wipe them with a damp paper towl. If they are really dirty peel them. It's easy to peal the outter skin off of button shrooms with a paring knife. :xyzthumbs
