I was woken up much too early this morning by a neighbour (English spelling) using a pneumatic drill to break up a concrete patio in his garden. No consideration. So I'm using my time to download some 2 Skinee J's and White Lines stuff. I'll get to some of your recommendations later, I promise!

To answer an old question of yours, yes Coldplay are British (English actually), but they're also very dull. I can't understand their popularity, they're one of the biggest bands in the UK but pretty boring in my view.

At this time in 3 days time I'll be on a plane bound for Amsterdam, the first leg in my trip to Chicago. One week from now I'll be on my way to Minneapolis for the first of the 2 games I'll be going to. Is there anything to do in Minneapolis other than watch football, eat and drink? The only view I've seen in visitors' guides is 'the cherry on the spoon' sculpture (other than the Mall of America, of course, but I've been there before and I'll do my shopping in Chicago). Oh well, nothing wrong with food and alcohol, I suppose!

I think this may be my 99th post. I'll be able to set up my own avatar soon, if only I knew how to do it!

hello, cath. it's morning here in denver.

lovely morning, too, cuz it rained last night. this is the perfect colorado morniing. a tad chilly, yet the sun is out! was gonna work overtime, but changed my mind. in this weather, to be indoors would be unforgiveable. :D

good thing about good tunes, they are timeless. years from now, live will still rock. i promise you that. lol. you might not dig live, tho. i can almost tell you and twig tend to like same tunes. i love coldplay. i suspected they were not yanks, but these things dont matter to me. if i like a band's sound, i could care less if they are from lima or kabul! was thinking they were aussies, tho. anyhoo, coldplay should be big. they rock! not too big here tho. i heard their stuff being played in los angeles when i was there last.

you are stateside bound...here is my recommendation:

los angeles is the city! you should go to l.a. if you havent already. sta. monica is the best. spend a week in sta. monica or pacific palisades or malibu! l.a. has the most excellent food, great shopping, nice weird people (who will leave you alone and wont care how you look, just dont be driving some crap. you are what you drive there! lol) lots of things to do at night or anytime of day. and then, there is the ocean! ahhhh.... the beach! you wont want to leave! (their mountains suck tho. they have some sorry looking mounds of whatever they call it in the valley. i look at it and just shake my head! dont go to the valley. for mountains...the rockies! colorado, baby. nice snow covered endless range of breath-taking mountains of grandeur! sometimes the sky is purple too. yup. sometimes our skies are a lovely mix of purple, orange and blue! like as if God loves us better! :D

i have never been to minny. isnt that weird? a die hard viking fanatic who's never been to minneapolis! i have the minneapolis monthly magazine. was reading it the other day and minny is at it's loveliest in the fall! oh my gosh...the colors! the trees and the lush greens. orange, red, and yellow trees! check out minneapolis monthly and you will see. the fall issue. it's got the minneaplis opera schedule in it too, no a phone number you can call for the minny opera. bring something black to wear. you might want to check out the opera.

obtw, my hubby promised to take me to mankato so i can see my vikings practice. well, it will be next year already. he didnt again this year. i will see minny. wanna go see that mall. is it really all that?

have a fun, safe trip. sorry, i babbled. going outside now to see about my back yard.

It's hot and hazy here in Wales. I took my dog for a walk earlier (dropping off some CDs and concert tickets at a friend's a mile or so away) and his tongue was dragging on the pavement. My dog's, not my friend's!

The concert tickets, by the way, were for the Wildhearts and Queens of the Stone Age, both gigs in October after I return from my trip.

Yes I do seem to have some musical tastes in common with TW1GGY. I'm picking up on some bands I've never heard of before thanks to this board.

I've already been to LA - it was years ago but I loved it. I won a Virgin Atlantic competition, the prize being a pair of tickets to anywhere in the States that Virgin flew to, so I chose LA. The competition was to estimate how many bottles of Miller Genuine Draft laid end to end would it take to reach from London to New York. The answer is something over 14,000,000!

I stayed in LA for nearly a week, flew up to San Francisco for a few days, drove slowly back down the coastal highway (staying overnight in Monterey and San Luis Obispo), spent another four days in LA, then finished the trip off with a few nights in Las Vegas. We stayed in a motel on Sunset Boulevard, just close enough to the clubs. I visited all of them and saw countless no-name bands, but the standout was Paul Rogers (ex Free and Bad Company) at the Troubadour. He played two sets and was joined onstage by Slash for the second.

To give you an idea of how long ago this was (1993 actually) I saw the Raiders play in the Colosseum and the Rams play at Anaheim (and took in a couple of UCLA games as well).

On your opera point, the only time I've ever been was to a performance of Mozart's 'Die Zauberflote' (The Magic Flute) at the English National Opera when I lived (for a short time) in London. I loved it!

And finally - the Mall of America. Yes I suppose it is 'really all that', but 'all that' is really no more than a large mall! There isn't anything that isn't at other malls, there's just more of it. Some British travel companies do pre-Christmas trips to Minneapolis where people see nothing but the mall. They are accommodated there, shop there and get their entertainment there. If I flew across the Atlantic for a long weekend, I wouldn't want to spend all of my time in the same building!

You see, you're not the only one who babbles. Perhaps this will bore our 'watchers'. Up to 144 views at the last count.

    hahaha...babble away!

one more post for ya...then it's custom avatar time! YEAY!!!

bravo! you earned it the old fahion way! we do have a post accumulator thread, and i think it's for that purpose. not sure. nobody really knows why, after getting a custom avatar, why one would want to accumulate posts. there is no prize.

obtw, i am not too enthused about the great mall. if it is just more of it, shoot, that just means more walking! i wanna see minny soon tho. i do love the malls. we have good ones here in denver, boulder and park meadows.

the opera is the ultimate best. wish i were rich. tix are somewhat pricy. the buell theatre here in denver is trying to make it affordable to all. that is what they said, i still have yet to see what they mean. we do have the boulder playhouse that is just as good and they dont care if you come in jeans! younger set of people. mostly people from cu and local boulder residents. awesome performances. i need to see what they are playing. havent checked them out in ages.

    let's see your avatar! :p

be checking on the wildhearts sometime this weekend.
    :D
