    yes. all your fault!

know what, that tune parachute is one of my fav on this cd. also LSD is so retro! sfs is born too. this is one good find, cath. this cd, i mean. if sorrow is better, man, then i want it. this band reminds me of another band. just cant think of it...similar style. band of the 80's.

nostalgia is the shit! i have to agree.

dont have company to go with for the game on the 22nd cath. and i also found out today the special they are running on the airfares is only on certain airline companies. national dont fly out of denver. nor does southwest. so, no. i wont be there. too bad. i was looking forward to beating you! i was also gonna let you buy me 10 beers cuz after all the panthers will lose and it is only right that loser pay!

obtw, our beers are cold here, so dont be shocked.
    ;)

Glad you're impressed by the Pretties! I get the feeling you'll like S.F.Sorrow when you eventually get it.

Pity you won't be at the Minnesota game. It would have been fun, and I would have bought you a few beers as condolence for your team's defeat against the Panthers.

I'm quite familiar with American beer so I don't need to be warned about the temperature. I'm a bit of a veteran when it comes to visiting the States - this will be my 15th trip (5 working, 10 on vacation). So what's your beer of choice? I guess it may be Coors as you're living so close to Golden (I toured the brewery a few years ago!). I prefer beer a bit closer in taste to British stuff - Pete's Wicked for instance.

And to bring this thread back to music, any bands you suggest I should listen to? American bands that haven't bridged the Atlantic? My preference is rock (as I'm sure you've guessed).

american rock band and has not crossed over?

hmmmm....tough one. i wonder if the calling has crossed over? probably. dont know if these ones are brits. but check them out dont know if they crossed over either:

jimmy eat world (these guys are more pop than rock)
    fuel
    mudvayne
    slipknot
    puddle of mudd

i am particularly partial to live. i know they have crossed over...but maybe you might want to check out "throwing copper" or "secret samadhi" albums. also "the distance to here" all of these albums by the band live.

lemme go see what cd's i got. brb...
    :D

sorry, had to be away. ok, lemme see...'days of the new' is not exactly a new band, them are ok. they sound american. never really bothered with that aspect. oh, and monster magnet is pretty good. oldies like 'collective soul', 'cinderella' & 'seven mary three'. 'eight stops seven' is another american band.

cant really tell what stuff you like. you have not posted much tunes as far as i can tell. saw you posted a coldplay tune. coldplay is not american, are they?

was out earlier. saw a video of this band called bbmak. they sound good...a little cheesy, but good. dont think these guys are americans, tho. too pretty. kinda pop, kinda rock. only got to hear one tune, so it's hard to tell. they have a foreign look about them. they might be brits.

obtw, my beer of choice: sammy smith oatmeal stout...or fat tire. coors is ok, guiness is ok too.
    :D

Thanks for the tips, Lex. I'll download some stuff when I get a chance, but I'm too busy at the moment. Lots to do before I leave for the States next week. I'm getting pretty excited!

I downloaded a couple of Puddle of Mudd mp3s. Quite impressed with 'Out of My Head' - a good rocking track. Not so impressed with 'Drift and Die' - it reminded me too much of Pearl Jam. I'll listen to a few more before I make up my mind!

I couldn't find any 'Live' to download. I'll try them next though because you seem to rate them quite highly.

OK, the next stage in Lex 101 - Cath tells Lex about his favourite bands.

The Wildhearts. When they first started they were talked about as a cross between the Beatles and Metallica, so you can guess that they're a heavy-pop-rock band. If you want to hear them at their popiest (is there such a word) then try 'I Wanna Go Where The People Go'. For their more anthemic stuff, try 'Everlone' or 'Caprice'. For a short sharp shock, try 'Suckerpunch'. They are probably my favourite band of all time. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen them - they were the last band I saw (just a few weeks ago) and they'll be the first band I see when I get back from the States (October 7th).

There's hardly anything on Kazaa, but quite a bit on WinMX (which seems to have more Brit stuff).

TW1GGY has seen them, but as a support in the wrong sort of venue altogether.
