To Kordell, or not to Kordell?

Kordell Stewart is as good as gone after Maddox pulled the come back yesterday and apparently he has expressed an interest in coming here. I personally would rather not have him here because he has proved to be pretty damn streaky. He just doesn’t show the emotional stability and decision making that championship QBs all seem to have. Focus problems and confidence dips seem to haunt him. He looks like a poor fit for Hennings scheme Foxs philosophy and Hurneys financial plan.

Should Stewart be considered and if so could he possibly fit into the current scheme, or have the scheme tailored a bit to make him effective here? Couldn’t Hennings make the necessary adjustments to apply a little of that Vick/Garcia mobility advantage? After yesterday it seems clear that Vick is not the only mobile QB in the league who can make things happen outside the pocket. Garcia was doing a pretty fair MV impression by utilizing the width of the field.

My impression is that Stewart has the speed and agility PHYSICALLY . . . but not mentally. Does anyone here think Stewart has enough from the neck up to assimilate that dimension for us or adjust to what Fox and Co want?

I think Stewart has what it takes to get a team to the Super Bowl. Steelers lost to a hot Pats team yr before last or Stewart does just that. He must learn to minimize turnovers but he could help us a great deal. No question in my mind.

 

In an ideal situation, I'd avoid the shit out of him, but he's the best guy out there, and he's better than any QB on our roster.

So yeah, if we can get him right (cost), we should do just that.

And we should keep Peete or another veteran FA, and dump Fasani, and grab a rookie.

 

Don't do it. I like(d) Kordell and rooted for him to get over the hump but I don't think he will now. He will also drive you absolutely, positively nuts by looking all-world one day and just flat out shitty the next.

If you can get him on the cheap and stroke his ego to the point that he can "get it back" then maybe. Just understand that his confidence is badly shaken now.

P.S. I agree with Shocker that he looked good last year but when he presses like he HAD to in that Patriots game, he tends to blow up.

Who gives a shit if he would get us wins! Kordell doesn't come off as gay (overly sensitive maybe) and I am curious as to where that rumor started. Garcia looks (sounds) more the part but the way that guy plays I wouldn’t care if my little brother was his bitch if it would help get the man in a Panther uniform.

He was caught blowing some guy in a park?! Who caught him, and when was this reported. I can't believe I missed any word of this, especially in light of all the attention that guys like George Michael, Hugh Grant, and Pee Wee received from the media. Why wouldn’t Stewart get the same treatment?
