tivo question

Just activated my tivo yesterday.


How in the hell do you add channels to it? When I had just regular digital cable last week, I know for a fact I had NFL network, NBA TV, and OLN.

None of those channels show up on my tivo menu and all I want to do is record game 7 of the playoffs tonight on OLN, since I'll be there. OLN will only come up if I manually switch to that channel, and states there is no program information available and thus I cant set it to record at 7:30. This is really irritating.

What a great invention, but it has to be the most complicated fucking thing I have ever installed in my home.

You probably just need to repeat the guided setup under the settings menu.

Did you add a cable box? That may mean you need to add a cable to allow it to change the channels.

 

Its been changing channels fine.


I think the error I made was when it asked me what approximate package I had from my digital cable, I chose digital plus. Their approximations didnt even come close to the packages from my cable company.

I'll redo the setup.

 

there's probably a setting in your guide options for "channels i receive" vs "all channels" (or even "favorite channels")

on my directv tivo, i can change it by going to the guide then hitting info, but that might be different for standalone tivos.

i'm sure there's a way to edit your channel lineup as well.

 

You can edit the channels manually. I have never really had to do that though. Of course where I live you have either basic cable, expanded basic or digital. If you have lots of options that may make it harder for Tivo to know what channels you have. If you are just missing a handful of channels then you can add them manually. It is in your "messages & settings" menu somewhere.

 

i had to manually delete my spanish language channels cuz tivo would record shit off of them if i didn't (if i let it record suggestions).
