I use no premium channels and along with the Road Runner I`m paying a little over $113 a month. I`ve been thinking of cheaper options and the letter put in with the latest bill is pushing me over the edge.
The new total appears, if my math is correct, to be about 12% more.
I`ll start looking at the dish packages and drop the RR from the turbo down to the basic.
If anyone can throw a company/plan recommendation my way then I`m listening. Direct or Dish? I`m in Concord so some of the things available in the Charlotte area probably won`t availabe here. Not really looking for package deal of phone/internet/channels, just channels.

Been reading lately of folks dropping cable and going back to the antenna for HD. I think I read where cable companies estimated they lost over 300,000 subscribers from doing just that.

Dropped TWC a few months ago for DTV and kept their internet service. Overall I gained about 15 movie channels (4 or 5 in HD) and save over $30 a month.

Does that D stand for Dish or Direct ? Do you have much signal loss with the dish?

I went with DirecTv but either would be an upgrade over cable. As far as signal loss, it hasn't happened yet. If you live in Concord, how often does it just piss piss rain anymore? With a good alignment you won't have much to worry about except in really extreme weather conditions. Tornado-type clouds can disrupt it too, but we're talking really thick once a year or so type clouds.

It's nothing to lose sleep over imo. You could also go U-Verse, I'm curious to hear more people talk about it. When I researched it a few years ago the HD wasn't quite up to par, but I'm sure it's gotten better. Wish Charlotte would get FiOS.

I`ve noticed on the satellite packages they throw in 32 to 62 music channels just to make the numbers look good. What a crock of shit! I can`t see a lot of difference between the Dish and Direct packages. Hell I might be better off just going the antenna way.
