Do any of y'all have a problem with certain channels' volumn being a LOT different than other channels? It's aggravating. :teeth:

I notice it on the foodnetwork more than anywhere else, I watch it a lot. I have to turn the volumn up to almost full blast when I'm watching it. Then when I change the channel it blasts me out of the room.

The problem with volume not matching on channels can come from a couple of sources. The cable company's headend, where are the signals are brought down and then sent out, doesn't properly set the audio levels or the channels themselves. Some channels have wildly varying audio levels during the broadcast day even from program to program. Locally, WSOC used to be a real pain. Master Control ops can get real lazy and go Homer Simpson on many aspects of sending a signal out.

I'm on DirecTV now and see it occasionally but not the same as when I was a TWC customer.

My best advice is the same as PP's. Sorry. :D

I really was wondering if it came from cable or the networks themselves. I know commercials can be louder than regular programs and that's a pain in the ass too. Especially if you are trying to keep the volumn low so as to not wake someone up that's sleeping or whatever.

Commercials on some of the networks run from +2 to +5 db over the regular programming. We don't do it on our telecasts but some folks still do.
