Tan, rested, and ready. Time to get back in the saddle for the weekend.

    So far...
    NCAA: 10-10. Purely pedestrian.

NFL: 12-2-1. All posted in the other football section. I am beating THE MAN like a rented mule on Sundays. It's a good thing too based on that 10-10 record on Saturdays. I probably just blew any karma I had with the football gods.

    On to this week....

Miami (-25.5) - The Canes will cover this by halftime if they are not too busy thinking of the Seminoles. Next year Mounties, next year.

UVA (-8.5) - Yikes. This number looks too good to be true, so I hope it isn't. It's true that UVA was shelled at S. Carolina earlier this year and even I have said that I am a little worried about their ability on the road.... but playing at UNC isn't the same as going to SC. South Carolina actually plays defense and has rabid fans. UNC has neither and should get rolled by a team many thought might - key word being MIGHT - have a shot at winning the ACC. I'm thinking UVA is a little undervalued here because of last week's outing against Wake too. The thing is, the Cavs turned the ball over 5 times and STILL won the game.

Fresno St. (+5) - Colorado State's D has been torched almost as badly as UNC's has. They have no business laying points to anyone right now. Something isn't quite right with the Rams this year. Plus, now that Fresno has gotten away from playing the big boys they are going to look a lot better.

Ball St.(+2.5) - I love situational plays like this one. The only reason Kent is favored is because they blew out Central Florida last week. The only reason they blew out UCF is because UCF gave them a half-dozen turnovers. If Ball St. holds on to the ball, they should have little problem here.

USC (-11) - I watched USC sleepwalk through a whoopin at Cal last week. That game never should've gone into OT - USC came from WAY back just to get to OT. I don't think it'll happen again. Plus, ASU doesn't seem to be as good as last year. We'll see.

Probably will be back with another one or two. I just got around to looking at the sheet real good today.

P.S. Thanks for the warning on Bama/N. Ill a few weeks back Dave. After I read that I went back and checked the schedule and saw that Arkansas was looming on deck.

Looks like your losing your Miami bet. You better hope WV starts cramping up.

Yup. Miami played like they thought WVU owed them something and WVU punched them in the mouth. Good for them. The Wilson kid for WV and the Winslow kid for Miami were fantastic in the 4th quarter last night. A tip of the cap to those kids. And to WVU in general. I really thought they were ready to unravel after Cinci (turnovers) and Maryland (ass-whoopin). Some friends and I were seriously thinking of putting a whole bunch of $$$ on Miami last night instead of just chugging along. I am thankful I wasn't that stupid at least.

If you want to make some money, just takes teams getting a LOT of points that I bet against. I seem to be personally inspiring large underdogs this year for some reason. I've managed to find one each week somehow. Most years I've been pretty decent at picking teams that take others to the shed. Not this year. :(

    One other thing.

The last time I saw a 4 TD underdog come THAT close to winning against a top team was Mich. St. at Ohio St. a few years back. Mich State actually pulled it off. Since then I just cannot think of another game where the underdog looked as good or better than the favorite. If you didn't know Miami was supposed to be better, you sure would've have known it last night either.

They are a bit schizoid historically, but I think you are right on with Mich State. Indiana is horrid and the only reason the number is 15 is because Michigan fucked around with 'em last week.

I am thinking of adding Mich State, Oklahoma and playing UNDER in the BYU game. I'm taking next week off so I figure I'll squeeze a few more in for this weekend.

    LOVE Seattle.

Florida was the one I had like that last week. The fuckers. When I turned on the radio to find out it was 14-0 UK I started hoping Florida would lose since I knew they were pissing away my money.
