I haven't been watching the waiver wire so I have been going off of what u guys have shown. I think the only ones that might improve our ol so far that I have seen would be: T Rehberg, G sciullo, G sullivan, G Fiore if he's still available but fiore will want coin though. The others would be an upgrade without alot of coin. I wished we had more cap so we could sign sciullo. He would help out the og position alot. Let me know what u guys think.

LOTS of familiar names from the last couple of drafts

At one time all of these guys drew a great deal of pre draft interest -

    Tony Pape
    Anthony Herrera
    Carlos Joseph
    Ben Sobieski
    Steve Scuillo
    Eric Dumas

Tony Pashos earned first-team All-Big Ten honors last two years and was a mainstay on the Illini offensive line, starting every game (47) at right tackle during his career… Overachiever with good strength, he averaged 9.2 knockdown blocks per game in his last two years.

Brian Rimpf anchored the ECU line as a three-time First Team All-Conference USA selection, Rimpf paved the way for three consecutive 1,000-yard rushers. Also held his own against standouts like Freeney and Peppers.

Tyson Clabo was an academic standout and became the anchor of an outstanding offensive line that helped Wake Forest lead the ACC in rushing for the second straight year giving up a conference-low 12 sacks.

Shannon Snell earned All-America honors at guard last year after switching from tackle. Known as a hard worker with a mean steak, his last 14 games at University of Florida he did not allow a sack.

The Ravens and the Broncos might have the two best lines in the league and Pashos, Rimpf, Clabo, and Snell are probably PS projects for them to fit in down the road. One of them could probably help us out in the much nearer future.

Surely at least one of these guys has to be better than Houghton or Kadela

Hell, let's get one of those guys signed up! The team left a slot open on the practice squad and we all know why. I remember there were people that wanted us to skip over Gross before last season and use our #9 pick on a skill position, thereby taking Pashos in the second to fill our tackle need. I still like the Gross pick, but now we have an opportunity to get Pashos too.

I'd bet that last spot is reserved for Duckett once we sign a veteran DT.

Maybe, but how many DTs are going to carry this year, 5 on the active roster and 2 on the practice squad? That's overdoing it a bit don't you think?

I still think we are looking for a guy on the OL who may be a long tearm solution. Willig, Tylski and Fordham are not spring chickens and are not long term solutions. They are Band-Aids to stop the bleeding. Otherwise, they have no future with this team. We need some people to grow on that line along side of Gross.

Oh, like Kadela, Reyes and Wharton? You're right though - either is a likely option.

Outside of Wharton, the other two are here purely out of need. Kadela and Reyes are pretty young, but with how much upside? Not much, IMO.

Kadela is playing his ass off, what more do you want from the kid? Wharton is going to be the future RT, IMO. Prepping him at LT then working him in at RT...that's what we'll see as the season progresses.

I want him to have several paragraphs of positive press from various sources to sooth my rampant insecurities that we could have had a better guy. However, our staff apparently had a chance but chose to pass on several of the "sexier" OL prospects I listed above. For instance - I guess they feel that Kadela is better than either of the two guys that the Ravens signed to their practice squad today. Actually I do dig the loyalty that they show towards all of the "Rudys" that we have (had) on our team since Fox and the boys took over. :xyzthumbs

I'll just imagine that some football forum dude made 70% of our personnel decisions in free agency and he has since been found and executed.

there . . . now I feel much better about the future of this club.)
