unless Fontenot has dramatically fallen off his game from last year then I would imagine he still has value this year. . . Especially if he can start at G for someone in addition to having his obvious starting C capabilities. If thats the case chances are that someone else with more cap room will grab him.
As is apparent from their board Whitfield has lost game and would not be worth what he and his agent will demand as a once revered LT. Our guys would avoid him based on the presumption that he is not versatile enough either.

Here's a blast from the past ... the Cardinals have released C Frank Garcia. Does he have anything left?

He's 32-years-old and has been mostly a reserve at guard since leaving here. I think he could help us out at guard and as a backup center. My only concern is with the breaking of the steroid policy he incurred last season.

    Thoughts?

Here's one more, the Jags have released OL Derrick Fletcher. He had stuck around here for a while and is familiar with our system. Another possible 'body' to consider.

I liked him some last year. I think Fordham is our body though. If they sign an OL, they'll have to cut someone. These are safe, I think:

    Gross
    Mitchell
    Reyes
    Willig
    Tylski
    Brezensky
    Wharton

Kadela could be cut and go to PS. I've heard mixed opinions about his performance last Thursday. Anyway, we have enough depth at T. And if we need him, we'd know where to find him on PS.

The other guy who could be cut is Fordham. The only guy I have confidence is better than him is Fontenot. And I don't even know if he plays G. So we'll see.

I read several places that Whitfield was absolutely terrible last year. I've read Gildon isnt playing well either.

Burton and Armstead's injuries turned out to be pretty serious. Burton had a torm menicus, which is like a torn ligament. Armstead had a torn biceps ligament. It means the biceps can't function. Sometimes players ignore it and play, but its hard.

I realize that if we sign another body that we will have to cut someone, but like you said, Kadela could be cut to the practice squad and we still are carrying 5 DTs currently. The staff has some wiggle-room to play with and that is probably by design.

Though he only cost us a 7th I seriously doubt they would cut a guy that they traded for at this point. I also doubt that Fontenot is an option because he won't be a vet min guy . . . even if he was I think we'd have to do some juggling to even free that up at this point

    Brandon Spoon?

The Rams have released Brandon Spoon. Isn't he a UNC grad, relatively young, and can he help with depth at LB?

I think Kalenda is safe. He played fairly well the other night IMO, and has a camp in this system under his belt. Any street guy isn't likely to be any better than Foredom, and lacks the good look in camp.

As they say, better the devil you know than the one you don't, the grass in always greener, yada yada yada.
