If SD can beat TB at 1 PM, and MIN can beat ATL at 4 PM, we win the division without playing.

If Dallas wins tonight, and the above happens, the game against NYG will be to clinch the #1 seed.

    NFC Championship game

I'm already planning my tailgating menu for the NFC Championship game here in Charlotte sometime in January... it's a done deal! (I have a PHD from the positive thinking university.):two-cents:

shit is nuts. Been around every single minute statistic of this football team since years before I could drink and never heard the words "clinch the 1 seed" in any realistic terms.

Giants defense is as tough as it gets. Jake will be dodging bodies everytime he drops back. OTOH, we put pressure on Eli he gets happy feet and who knows where the ball is going. We run the ball successfully and we have a great shot at winning.

That's the problem though. You most of the time don't have to rely on having Eli 'happy feet', with the ball. Give it to the apartment building of a guy named Jacobs. This kid is as big as the field itself. Hand it to him and let him run through everyone.

Translation= if we can stop the run on first down for a very short gain or loss. Put the pressure on them to have to have a big run on 2nd down (or pass) to set up a third and short to have chance for a run. Hopefully we can stop them on 2nd down for a minimal gain so they don't have a choice but to pass on 3rd down. Get pressure on him then and I see a "W" in the books for Carolina.

Game plan= not too sure Eli can beat us, we do have a decent pass defense, blitz up the middle, Jacobs won't outrun us sideline to sideline IMO. And get into Eli's pace. He's decomposed very quickly!

Really, much the same as when we beat them in the 1/2006 playoff game.

Losing Plaxico and Shockey hurt their offense.

I don't think Shockey has a ton to do with it, see last year. But no Jacobs and no Plex has really hurt them.

However, they'll probably have Jacobs, and we may be down at DT. Ouch.

Anyhow, as of today, this is what the weather might be like:

    Hi Temperature: 41° F
    Low Temperature: 23° F Sunset: 4:32 PM
    Probability of precip: 70%
    Wind: 11 mph W/NW

Is Carr the backup? If we were to put Manning on the carpet for a more permanent basis, would we get to compete against Carr?

I guess Vincent is a little banged up. All told I like Bridges there this week if we had to, he's the better pass blocker, and he's good enough blocking the run. We're really going to have to do a lot of max protect, two receivers going out, and changing up to a bit of very quick rhythm passing. That's certainly, after injuries and retirements, still about as good a DL as we'll see this year.

    Fixed.

Yeah, I know they didn't run Jacobs in '06, but they're missing Jacobs right now one hell of a lot more than they ever missed Shockey.
