If Lutz gives Grier the nod and Badsen 10 minutes a game, that's offense. Pigford averaged 17 a game in juco, he should get a few points in the paint. Even if Withers doesn't improve, he's still a force. Demon will still be jacking em up, and Plavich from three has got to be better than Curtis Nash 99.9999999% of the time. Sager might actually get open on occaision since we should have Grier slashing and ITi, Withers, or Pigford as threats down low. No more people not worrying about Butter, Tory, and Tyler.

I hope Iti doesn't mind rebounding and playing alot of D, because Demon will get his shots, then Withers, then Plav. I think Plav and Demon will be liabilities on the defensive end, but our 3 big me will excellent defenders.

that is one thing that I am beginning to question about Lutz. Can he get defensive intensity? I remember the teams of Mel Watkins locking people down, even when they were physically inferior.

Mitchell, Grier, and Iti should change that trend. That's the thing about Plav and Demon both, if it's not their night shooting the ball, sit their asses down. Withers didn't lock people down last year as a freshman, but he was trying 150% to do it.

We knew that the only way we'd win this past year was score 80-85 points a night, since we were so small. We scored what, 68?

Defense wins, folks. Grier seems to be a decent defender as well as a slasher - he can box out and knock passes away with his humongous arms, for one thing. Iti and Withers should get the snipers open.

I don't think Grier should be ruled out from playing a few minutes at the two slot. PIcture this, 15 minutes a game. IF PIgford or Spooner are better than advertised, let them play the 4, ITi at center, Withers shooting over most small forwards, and Grier and Baldwin trapping the other teams guards to death. It might also throw off the other team's scouting reports, since we won't be jacking a bunch of threes with this combo on the floor.

Mike, I had a summer class with Pigford. He's not a 4. Skinny as HELL.

Who said "Your defense is offensive!".

I know it was in a movie or a commercial. Seems like it was Peyton Manning.

    Just seems applicable.

    he wont mind at all.
rebounding and blocking shots are what he prides himself on. he had one game in high school where he got 20 rebounds and 20 blocks. very very impressive, i dont care who he was playing against, thats a damn good game. i dont think he wil ever average more than about 10 or 12 ppg, but its all good as long as he he gets around 10 rebounds per game along with 2 or 3 blocks
