The following information is for news matter only. :D

So far this season on posted picks: 8-4

WVU (-7) - I would just say that ECU is awful and leave it at that, but I like this play mainly because I don't think that the ECU will be able to stop the WVU RB Cobourne.

Air Force (+9) - With Utah's stud running still back out and the Utes coming off of a punch-you-in-the-mouth type game at Michigan, I'll take the 9 here. The Falcons just keep chugging along.

Auburn (-14) - Payback is a bitch. Auburn went to the Carrier Dome last year and found out how hard it is to play there in a 31-14 loss. Syracuse is horrid on D this year though and has little O to speak of.

Arizona (-14.5) - Took an ass whoopin at Wiscy last week (again, thank you Bear). But North Texas is not Wiscy and the fact that two teams - Texas and Bama - seemed to let up on N. Texas in games and let them stay closer than expected has kept this number at a lower-than-I-expected 2 TD's. I'll bite since I expect the Arizona O to look better than last week. It can't look any worse.

Got my eye on one or two others, but I am waiting to see where the lines go before I decide. So for now that's it. As always, feel free to add some picks if ya got 'em.

My little circle of degenerate friends here LOVE Auburn. I circled it back in July because I can remember watching last year's game and things got kinda ugly in the second half. During that game I was thinking "y'know, Auburn will beat the shit out of them next year after all of these good defensive players are gone". At the time I never dreamed I would have to lay two TD's, but Syracuse ain't what it used to be. They gave up 600 yards to BYU in the opener I think. BYU! Cadillac should go for 200.

Kentucky plus the points at Florida. What is it 19 pts? Kentucky can beat Florida.

    A little rehashing....

I don't know about anyone else, but when I know that a favorite I have bet on is definitely NOT going to cover I just start rooting for the underdog to win outright. Fuck you Syracuse. You cover the spread so I lose the bet, but lose the game so the Big East gets no cred for a victory. I'm prouder of Rutgers than you bunch of dickheads today. Auburn still has QB problems - they ain't winning shit in the SEC.

Arizona should have lost outright. I went to bed before I saw the final stats, but N. Texas was outgaining them through the middle of the third quarter. I hope Oregon beats Arizona to death next week.

WVU ran for 500 yards yesterday. Avon Cobourne is going to make some pro team real happy next year. WVU will beat MD next week - I am curious as to what that spread will be.

I will take 3-2 though. Just chugging along...

I never bet on heavily favored teams. Never ever. Coaches don't care about the spread.

Virginia BARELY covered the spread, 38-34. Deacons lead 27 to 10 at halftime. I was feeling quite bad at halftime of the SC, TN, and UV games. Second halves were much better.

    4 and 0 baby.

Define heavily favored. :) I understand what you are getting at though. Nothing like getting reamed by a late TD by a dog after the game is over and no one really gives a shit. I rarely lay over 24 unless I think the dog is TOTALLY inept. But I've made a living the last few years picking on teams getting points in the 10-17 range (just not last night...LOL). This leaves room for late TD's in what would otherwise be woodshed games.

I am going to disagree with you a little on coaches not caring about margin of victory though. While it's true that a coach just wants to win and is not worried about the exact spread, coaches in college have become very concerned about perception the last few years. Margin of victory may have been taken out of the computer formulas now, but not out of voters' heads. You can exploit that if you know where to look. Mr. Bowden - for one - has been known to drop late TD's on teams on a regular basis. So while coaches may not know what the spread is, you can be sure that since some voters only check the finals some coaches will take shots when they can.
