They gotta figure out a way to either make kids stay in school for a year or two if they actually commit or to rule themselves out of college recruiting.

I don't begrudge these kids the money at all. My problem is that nobody knows how to play freaking basketballl anymore. When was the last time you saw a guy pull up for a 6-10 foot jumpshot? How many guys even try to use the backboard anymore? It's all 3's and drives and anytime somebody misses a shot on a drive they expect to get a foul called. I really don't care if the NBA sucks out loud - but it's killing the college game and that I do care about.

EXACTLY people say "they should go to the NBA outta high school because they're ready." Well are the kids that much better OR is the NBA game degenerated that much? I think the worse the BA game gets the easier it is for them to take HS players. In the past 99% of all basketball players went to college for 3 to 4 years and came out polished and ready to contribute nearly immediately to an NBA team. When you have whole teams made up of these polished players the overall game was better. The colleges got the athletes and developed them and because of that college basketball was sloppier, but still had the "elite" players. Then after development the players, now polished, moved on to the NBA with a league full of polished players and the NBA game as a whole was better. Now the better high school players go to the NBA so the college game misses out on the talented athletes, but even those athletes while talented aren't polished and take 2-3 years before they reach their potential. But at what they're being paid they're expected to contribute immediately. So they are put on the floor and play sloppy and the NBA game suffers. Its a nasty endless cycle that isn't gonna get fixed until somehow the players are required to spend a few years developing before playing in the NBA. I like the NFL's rule of 3 years outta high school. If they can make that work it would require the HS kids to decide on going to college or the the NBDL. I'm thinking the majority of high schoolers will opt. for college in that case due to the fact it gets better exposure than the NBDL. In turn it would improve the college game and after the talent catches up with the poor play the NBA will also improve in a few years.

From Larry Lage, AP writer's story last night...
New Jersey shot just 27.1 percent, its worst shooting game in team playoff history, and tied the postseason record for fewest field goals — 19 — in what was easily its worst offensive performance of the season.

Looking at it another way, the Nets lost by 22 points despite holding the Pistons to no more than 21 points in any quarter.

All I need to say is, so much for the fundamentals of basketball.

It starts long before college/NBA age - although I agree they glorify the individual too much.

If you are 12 and have skillz, you are then coddled to the point where you do not have to do any of the things y'all want (VP, Brain). Coaches of the young folks need to be shot. That is where I lay the blame.

i have to be honset, i just don't understand the outrage of kids leaving school to play basketball professionally. the only difference between playing for a college and playing for a pro team is that the pro team pays you money.

do you feel it's your god given right to watch college basketball?

No. I'll bet on anything. Just point me in the right direction to find it. And college hoops will always have an audience.

I'm sure all this shitty hoops has made betting the UNDER in the NBA a lot easier. But I passed on hoops this year.
