    it really was a singles list. a list of the songs that rose to the top while listening to my mp3 player, mostly comprised of random bands. the only artist i can really speak on, knowing his full body of work, is devendra, who's one on my favorites. and, honestly, i'm not exactly sure what the term 'pretentious' even means. i've listened to much of ray lamontagne, and not really gotten into anything but the one song. and the presets are a total throwaway band, but a band i am really enjoying at this moment. midlake i think i might actually get to like though they sound a lot like clinic. and mew i've given up on.

    I'm totally with you on the thermals and the hold steady.. that hold steady guy sounds like john cafferty to me or some springsteen wannabe. a voice that has no place in indie/whatever. and the thermals are just bad . never heard the other three

    Just as a change of pace. He's faking the entire gypsy sound, but it's interesting. I think it could get old quick. Then again, I listened to Postcards from Italy about 5 times in a row the other day cause it was working.
