    Run Around (Blues Traveler 9.15.01)

4 bars into it they drop the song into a minor key. It's kinda funky. And pretty dark. Like poser-metal.

Dug their first album back out of my collection and have been listening to it again. Pretty good actually, better than I remembered:

    Secret Machines - Nowhere Again

On a complete Teenage Fanclub kick right now, just tore through all of Bandwagonesque & Grand Prix.

Still seems hard to beleive that Bandwagonesque beat out Nevermind, Loveless (My Bloody Valentine), and Out of Time for album of the year (1991) according to Spin. I remember the first time I saw the cover - there was a blurb about it from Rolling Stone - "best album by a bunch of white guys in a long, long time". Bought my copy the day it came out @ Repo over on Central and just about wore the fucking thing out.

I love digging up older stuff like this and seeing how it holds up. Pretty well, I gotta say. But back in '91 after all that 80's shit, wow was it a breath of fresh air.

BTW these guys (and Matthew Sweet) were what led me to Big Star. It's such an obvious progression once you listen for a while. Just good fuckin rock music.

    oh yeah

    still she wont be forced
    against her will
    says she dont do drugs
    but she does the pill

    oh yeah...
