    yeah lex

    all Bonnie is good.

Stroking? well listening to Bonnie gets me in a stroking mood.

She used to play a little dive in Charlotte, Kidnapper's once a year.

I fell in love with her every time. She can crank out the blues/jam on that slide guitar and then turn around and melt your heart with a slow one.

tonight was a good night to listen to it.

sure is, 1996, cancer. She was a find of Chuck Brown and was only on the scene for a few years. she was a major influence on my band's singer, he turned me onto her around first of the year. Just a heavenly voice, makes every one of her songs a little sadder.

The story goes that soon after her first recordings she had a skin lesion removed and gave it no more thought. Within three years she was growing quickly ill again, and the constant streams of flowers being sent were becoming too much. So she had paper and crayons brought out, and instead everyone who came to visit would express themselves through that medium. supposedly any time during visitor's hours, you'd find people in the halls near her end-of the wing room, coloring and getting to know each other. After a benefit concert held by Chuck Brown, she handwrote letters of thanks despite lacking strength.

Autumn Leaves is a jazz pop standard. Best versions I ever heard were Miles Davis' recordings with Cannonball Adderley (the Davis Quintet's alto - John Coltrane was the other horn) and Dizzy Gillespie's big band. There's also a version I have noted as Duke Ellington's, but done in French and definately not an Ellington recording. One of my favorite songs.

emmylou harris? yup! reb likes her!

she made reb's top 5 all time greats songs, singers. i am sure it was not just bec she sounds great...she looks great too!

i have this theory: music is food for the soul, right?

well, therefore, when our soul is healthy, it manifests itself outwardly in our eyes, (window to our soul) our face, and the rest of our being! it's gotta. case in point: emmylou harris, bonnie raitt, stevie nicks, carly simon (another one of reb's fav), eva casssidy, lauren hill, sarah brightman, sade, jewel, tori amos, kate bush, britney spears, erika baduh, the corrs, sarah mclachlan, dixie chicks? etc. i can go on and on, but i wont.

men: dave matthews and his band. 'nuf said.
    :p

forgot my tune: "i love you" sarah mclachlan
    goodnite.

Personally, I think Emmylou is still good looking.
Dave Matthews is a big fan, having tabbed her to play with him on Long Black Veil at various venues and covering her "The Maker".

    Straight No Chaser (Cannonball Adderley)
