Just saw Dareus on NFLN game changer. He comes off as a “me”guy more than any interview I've seen of Fairly or Newton.

    Rivers.

That has more to do with tipping off your intent and where you're throwing it to than the quarterback's height.

I believe the point was that Clausen was known for being accurate as a prospect, but he was a deer in the headlights on the field. Maybe he always will be, a la Jeff Lewis, but maybe he won't. QBs almost always look like shit if forced to play as rookies, especially for terrible teams.

The main problem I saw with Clausen was he played scared. He never took any chances with the ball. That lead to very little production. He had what 3 TDs all year and one of those was a long run by Stewart. I could live with his interceptions if he were making some plays. Maybe as he learns the offense and gets more comfortable he will have more nerve. To be fair he was not groomed as the starter during the off season.

All that being said I still want a veteran QB to start for us next season. Another year with a rookie QB makes me hope the lock out continues.

and Rivers has enough arm. He has a lot more accuracy than I ever imagined, and I'll drill it hard every day for the next two weeks - all these guys have enough arm. Clausen, too. It doesn't matter whether you have far too much, like Mallett or Newton. More velocity on the ball, more strength behind the throw, won't make you more accurate. You can't throw harder and make it better.

so you have Rivers, a guy I had as a second rounder that went 4th, who is consistently either the top or in the top few in efficiency, completes on average 64% and gives you around 30 TDs a year, without a killer arm, because he's efficient and has accuracy.
Kurt Warner was undrafted and, without a huge arm or experience, used accuracy to win two NFL MVP awards, and sits 6th in QB rating all-time.
Both guys without Jeff George arm, both guys in this offense, fucking killing it right now.

Now I could give a shit whether it's Clausen or Newton, but we need accuracy. I know I've gotten enamored with arm, velocity, and had to come off that. The idea that so many people want Newton, apparently a lot in reaction to Clausen, and don't see the exact same issues coming up with Newton, are going to be really fucking disappointed to get what they want.

According to that QB poll here . . . Abusive, Meat, Headcase, Pursy, Brain, TB Willie, and Thelt are among the 38% at TBR to apparently want (or would be satisfied with) Newton with the #1 pick. I wonder what percentage of all panther fans will want Newton along with what is likely to be a record-breaking guaranteed money contract? We haven't talked much about the dollar issue, and that the infamous Bus Cook is the kids agent. :REGamblMoney01HL2:

We know what the #1 pick comes with. We also know that it's possible that a solution gets worked out w the CBA and he isn't given all that dough.

We're also hoping that regardless of contract, he provides an energy that this offense hasn't seen since well...since when.

It's kinda crazy if you think back in our short history...who has really been a star on this offense? Smith? 89? Williams could be, if retained...other than that?
