Neither Holmes or Garner were ever fat or out of shape, or lacked burst. Garner in particular was held back by injuries early in his career. He's always had great speed and toughness.

Now if there's a guy out there who isn't getting playing time due to size concerns, then the comparison fits.

nah, I pretty much agree with you Y2 which is why I sited examples of two guys with low mileage that went on to have some pretty damn good years with other players. Wasn't Davis been banged a little last years. If he is healthy, why not.

Sure there is a weight concern, but playing all 16 games, as a rookie, getting 770 yards and 5 TDs while sharing time with another pretty decent RB... looks pretty tuff to me. (As a matter of fact playing in 16 games straight for 3 seasons) The comparison simply to show that a player can move on to another team and have great success, not a comparison of running styles or burst of speed. so the comparison is an excellent example.

A big one. A professional wouldn't let it happen. Priest sure didn't.

I'd grab him off of waivers to have in camp, like any other reject RB. That's about it.

Keep in mind, Meat, that throughout most of his career, Dayne (like Bettis) has been encouraged to get as big as he could play. Even Bettis at one point got too fat and had to drop some pounds.

IMO, Dayne will never be a fullback. He might be able to pick up a blitz on passing downs, but I don't think he's a lead blocker. No, I think if he dropped back down to about 238 or so, he could be a short yardage, goal line, clock-killer back -- much like Duckett in Atlanta. At least in that mold. I honestly don't know how the two compare talent-wise. He could be successful, but he needs conditioning and strength training, a lot of coaching, and the right system.
