the run is necessary, but the pass is how we'd win. Their pass D is awful.

I agree that their pass defense is their biggest weakness, but most of the games they've lost this season have been a result of the other team running the ball well. Unfortunately I'm not counting on us being able to accomplish that feat.

beating a strength and a weakness is better than beating a weakness, always. But if the run doesn't work, I'd rather not beat it into the ground anyway. Might be a good time to see if the Giants can pursue, though.

    In order of progression:
    1) 3 and 5 step drops (3WR, TE)
    2) Draw off the pass
    3) Run between the tackles
    4) Playaction off the run deep to Smitty
    5) Victory formation

You contain the DEs with 3 step drops. With their weak linebacking corps you got to believe we'll get plenty of YAC. Their weak secondary probably means zone coverage rolled to Smitty's side. Proehl and Carter step up and we're solid. Play it like we are a WCO and we're solid. Scoring shouldn't be a problem. Stopping them from scoring might be if we play the run like the Dallas game. What is our defensive strategy? Man up tight and fill the box or worry about their receivers?

on D? in general, some of each. Burress needs to be played tight, Toomer not as much so; I don't know if doubling Burress much is necessary, putting the SS in the box helps on Shockey as much as it does the run but I'd as well have some zone back there, too. Mix it up.

If we can run then it will open up the passing game and they will have no chance to stop us. If they can stop our running game with the front seven then they will have a better chance against our passing game. If we run the ball well it keeps Tiki off the field too.

I'd put good money that our first play from scrimmage this weekend will be a pass. It I were to go further and bet on the first play, I like the fake toss to the right followed by a screen to Smitty (0 route?). For those that don't remember that was the play that Smitty almost got into the endzone with last week.

Definitely we need to pass to set up our run game.

to compare teams over all there are three stats that I like to look at. What I call screw up stats.

Sacks; Panthers have 45 Giants have 41
Panther Opp 28 Giant Opp 28

Fumble recovers; Panthers have 30 Giants have 27
Panther Opp 15 Giant Opp 17

Interceptions; Panthers have 23 Giants have 17
Panther Opp 16 Giant Opp 17

In every category the Panthers have caused more screwups than the Giants have and commited less screwups than the Giants have except sacks given up and that is equal.
