The Wizard of Oz and Pink Floyd

Discussion in 'TV & Movie Discussion' started by Tiorted Snoil, Nov 14, 2002.

  1. I've heard that Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is in sync with the Wizard of the Oz if you start the album at a certain point in the movie? Is this true and if so, where do you start it?

Here are detailed instructions on how to get it to set it up to make it work out correctly. I've never tried it, so if you do you gotta let us know if it really works!

I done it by starting at the Lion's roar. The second time thru the cd it's not as interesting...but the first time is fairly cool if you stretch your imagination a lot.

TNT actually did this for us a while back. They ran Dark Side on the "SAP" portion of the broadcast while the regular audio ran on the main channel.

If your cable company participated and you can switch to the SAP signal on your TV, you had your Floyd with your OZ. I have SAP capability, but my cable company did not participate. I was bummed. :( TNT has only done it once, but I have to believe they will run it again like this someday. Watch the ads...

  5. there are about 5 times where you go "dude..." but you'll probably need a little herbal assistance to really enjoy it.

the crazy one is when "time" starts.

  6. so did the band do this purposely or is it just a coincidence?

Coincidence. And it's true, about the second time the CD starts.

It is pretty cool, the first time, though.

  8. Yeah, it's total coincidence. I didn't think the 2nd time was much worse than the first time.

ever watch mtv with different music playing? same deal -- things sorta look right, but not.

    The time thing was freaky.

It's been a long time since I did this and I'm not at all a PF fan. But wasn't there a black/blue scene thing too that was sort of odd?

  10. not sure about the black and blue line... but there's a heart beat going (2nd time) when they're oiling up the tin man to get him working again. also when they're going back home it there's the lyric "home, home again".

those are the ones that stand out to me. aside from the general music tone coloring the on-screen action.
