Anybody ever heard of these guys before?

I've downloaded a few off of KaZaA. Pretty good stuff - pretty good blues/rock beat.

Ball and Biscuit, Fell In Love With A Girl and Girl You Have No Faith In Medicine were pretty good.

    Check em out

I started the thread that TW1GGY refers to because at the time I'd never heard of White Stripes - even though they'd recorded three albums - and they stood out on that particular programme. Unfortunately it has become a case of 'too much of a good thing' - they're huge here in the UK. The 'Elephant' album is currently 2nd in the British charts, down from No.1 last week, and they've become the 'darlings' of the British media. You can't get away from them.

'Elephant' is a good album, but I think my favourite is 'White Bood Cells', and my favourite song of theirs is 'Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground' because of THAT guitar! They're worth listening to, but as TW1GGY says, it's difficult to listen to a whole album at one sitting.

I just read that 'Elephant' was recorded in a tiny London studio that has no digital equipment at all. It was recorded in analog in just 10 days on 1" reel-to-reel tape at a cost of only $8,000.

The White Stripes first single "Fell In Love With A Girl" and their second single "Dead Leaves on The Dirty Ground" were in pretty good rotation on T.V. and the radio. I like the rock blues vibe. Jack White is a good guitarists, but I think they are in drastic need for a bassist. The recording doesn't need to be that expensive because it's very raw with a bunch of rough edges.Their first album in the U.S. White Blood Cells is considered one of the best CD's of last year. Elephant has already sold over 170,000 copies in the first week and a half.
