I know someone mentioned the Weigh Down Diet in a previous thread and now I can't find it. Has anyone tried this? I started it about a year ago, and EASILY lost 40 lbs. in about 6 months, eating whatever I want and not exercising!!! This is definitely the way to go.

The basic concept is eat whatever you want, but only eat it IF YOU'RE HUNGRY. Americans tend to eat way more food than we actually need; we eat for pleasure, for socializing, for depression, for comfort.... The trick is to figure out (some of us are learning for the first time) what true stomach hunger is and to feed our bodies when we are truly hungry. We also have to recognize the difference between true stomach hunger and "head hunger" or "mouth hunger" (when you're not really hungry, but it just looks so good).

The 2nd part is learning to stop when you're full. Not when you're miserable or have to loosen your belt, but when you're comfortably full and no longer hungry. It's about learning to consume only what your body really needs (not what your head or mouth want) and stopping when it's had enough.

I tell you, it's so simple! And it's been life-changing for me. It's great not to have that over-stuffed-miserable feeling anymore, and to know that I can eat whatever I want to (sometimes ice cream for breakfast!) as long as I'm hungry. I have lost just as much weight in the same amount of time as my friends doing Weight Watchers, and I don't have to count points or exercise or anything! It's amazing.

congratulations on losing the weight. However, if you don't exercise, you're not doing yourself any favors. You're better off health-wise to be fat and in shape than skinny and out-of-shape... And skinny but doughy is still lacking a certain aesthetic.

I have been exercising, although not the entire time since I started the weigh down. My point was that I didn't have to exercise to lose the weight- it was all about responding to your body's hungry and full signals. I in am total agreement that exercise is important to a person's well-being.

Y'know, I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression because I'm not trying to be snotty or anything so I want to be sure and say that first. But I've never understood this part about food being a substitute for different aspects of my life. I mean... I get hungry, I eat, that's it. I can't ever remember a time where I said (or thought) something like, "I'm bored and unhappy, let's eat."

Again, not trying to be a turd. :) Just wondering if maybe I'm wired differently or something because I can't ever remember eating for the reasons listed above. Can someone help me out here? Is this common?
