Yes. And if you are doing it on your own, this is a good way to go. If you go this route, I would strongly suggest getting a cold plate so that you can store the kegs at room temp.

how much space does it take? I mean how big is the equipment, how much storage space do you need for beer in progress, etc? I imagine it's something that can't be moved during the process as well, so is a closet or something best?

You can start in your kitchen and anywhere you can store a 5 gallon bucket where it won't get over 70 or so degrees.

Is this standard now, and readily available from e.g. Food Lion, Walmart. Or, do you hafta go to a specialty store?

Are you talking about beer yeast or bread yeast? I have never seen any specific homebrew materials at anything other than brewing stores. I don't know much about bread yeasts.

Should be kicking right when football season starts.

Sampled some more of the Belgian Wit and American Red Bitter (sampling is required while brewing)

Dry hopped the IPA. Should be ready for sampling next time around.

how much are you making at a time? Is this just for fun or do you really save money by making your own?

We make 15 gallons at a time. Costs about $110 and we get a little over 6 cases of beer. Definately cheaper than 6 cases of Bass and that is the quality of the beer we are getting. Takes about 7 hours total but only 1-2 hours of that is actual work the rest is just sitting around drinking.
