Doesn't Duke have a course where you literally watch movies and then discuss them with the class?

#11 center in the country chooses UNC

“I knew it was definitely one of my favorites,” Bodine said. “I came down here with my mom. She agreed with everything I was thinking [about UNC]. So I figured I’d go ahead and get it over with now.”
Bodine, a 6-foot-4, 278-pound offensive lineman from Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy, selected UNC over scholarship offers from Boston College, California, Duke, Northwestern, Rutgers, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

“Really, [what stood out about UNC] was how well rounded it was,” Bodine said. “It had a little bit of everything that I was looking for – obviously a good football team, it’s in a good conference, the campus is beautiful, and the [academic] reputation it has.”

While visiting UNC earlier in the spring for the Tar Heels’ Junior Day event, Bodine was extended a scholarship offer. He then immediately placed UNC on his favorites list, even though he hardly considered the Tar Heels before that point.

“That was pretty much the first I’ve ever heard from them,” Bodine. “They called Coach [Mark] Shuman and said ‘We’re having a junior day and want Russell to come down…’ I was thinking about going to Virginia Tech that weekend and Coach Shuman was like ‘No, you need to go to North Carolina.’ I’m guessing he knew there was a higher level of interest.”

UNC offensive line coach Sam Pittman recruited Bodine to play center. Bodine is ranked the No. 11 center in the nation, according to Scout.com.

“Obviously, they’re going to lose two centers this year and they got another one that is a sophomore,” Bodine said. “So they’re looking at me to play early. Now how early, from what they’re saying, depends a lot on me and how ready I am to come in and play. But they’re certainly looking for someone to come in and contribute.”

During Monday’s visit, Bodine and his mother spent time with the coaching staff, toured the campus, met the academic support staff, and then had a meeting with Pittman and head coach Butch Davis. It was during the meeting with Pittman and Davis that Bodine made his verbal commitment.

“I had a pretty good idea [that I was going to commit],” Bodine said. “I knew they were my favorite. I sat down last week and talked to my parents about it.”

More or less, Monday’s visit was to get Bodine’s mother approval.

“She wanted to see it one way or the other before I committed to make sure it was a good fit,” Bodine said. “And she approved.”

Bodine says his verbal commitment is firm. Thus, he doesn’t plan to visit any other schools

tough loss for the offensive line.

Chapel Hill, N.C. -- North Carolina offensive lineman Aaron Stahl has decided to forego his final year of eligibility in 2009 and will no longer play football. Stahl, who has been a member of the team for four years, graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science.

“I appreciate everything Coach Davis and his staff have done for me over the last two and a half years,” said Stahl. “I earned my degree from a great University, enjoyed living in Chapel Hill, and now it’s time for me to move forward with the next phase of my life.”
Stahl played in all 13 games last season and started six at either center or guard. He broke his thumb in the Miami game and switched to guard for the remainder of the year. He had offseason shoulder surgery in January and missed all of Carolina’s spring practices.

“I understand Aaron’s decision and appreciate all of his hard work and effort to make us a better football program,” said head coach Butch Davis. “He was a versatile player, and when he was injured last year, he helped the team by moving to another

    #1 OL to visit UNC.

    By Eric Guimaraes

OL Seantrel Henderson (6-8 325) of St. Paul, MN plans a visit to USC this summer. "I'm going to visit South Carolina, North Carolina, FSU, Florida, Southern Cal, UCLA, and Michigan," said Henderson. He says he has a preexisting relationship with Eric Wolford. "Yeah, I knew him when he was at Illinois," he said. Henderson says he has offers from every SEC, ACC, and Big Ten school as well as Southern Cal and UCLA. Henderson says USC interests him. "Of course, they've got (Steve) Spurrier and their team is getting better every year," said Henderson. He says playing time is important to him, but not the only thing he is considering. "I want to play but if there is a senior in front of me that I have to wait on, that's just the way it is," he said. 'I want to play but I want to feel comfortable at the school too." Henderson says being comfortable with the school, the city, and the coaches are what he is looking for. He does not have any favorites.
