he signed his LOI before he committed the felony. Unless Davis can predict the future, the only fault he has is not taking his scholarship away.

I went to school there fool (lclefty can confirm my diploma) so I feel no shame in correctly pointing out that there are a bunch of wal-marters on this thread.

It's a fair point that Davis couldn't have known when he signed his LOI that he would commit statutory rape but I think it goes more to the type of characters Butch is recruiting. You start bringing in kids who can't get into other ACC schools and kids who can only get in by passing online courses, you are walking a fine line and that line got crossed this time. Like I said, this won't be the last criminal Butch brings on campus. But hey, if y'all are happy with it, so be it.

Here's the question: If it is negotiated down to a lesser offense, does Butch allow him on campus and if he does, are y'all okay with it? The UNC-CH grads I work with and talk to aren't happy about this situation at all so it would be interesting to see if there is a difference in a grad. and just a fan.

Not sure if you're aware of the times, a large percentage of people get an education online these days. What Jones did is very common throughout the real world.

the pressure of winning is greater than anything, so evaluating talent first character second is something I would assume Davis and staff have done -sacrificing the quality of student athlete.

Nationally, nobody is going to know what goes on off the field, but what happens on the field. Ask USC, Alabama, Florida and LSU, they all have their issues, however outside their respective states nobody knows exactly what's going on.

Everyone can keep questioning every move by every coaching staff across the country, reality is - nobody knows the exact situations while all the bullshit goes on everywhere. Times are changing, kids are changing, it's something we have to deal with

I'll throw this out there too so you can keep me honest if this same situation ever happens to a NCSU signee. I wouldn't want this kid at NCSU this coming August. I think he lost that privilege by making a bad choice. But, if he goes JUCO for two years and keeps his nose clean, I think it is perfectly fine to let him come two years from now. But, one mistake and he is completely gone. He messed up and he should lose some privileges though there are still doors open for him if he stays clean from here on out. That's how I would hope TOB would handle it. I just don't think I would want a statutory rapist (arrested 4-5 months before he is supposed to attend) on the campus I attended until he has proven he can keep his nose clean and it was just a one-time mistake. Again, pull this up if this ever happens at NCSU and I react differently.

That's the complete truth there. No argument from me on that one. Again, it's a message board. If this guy attends UNC-CH next year, it won't change my life one bit. If he doesn't, that also won't change my life. It's April and there pretty much isn't anything else to talk about beyond this stuff (even Spring games don't really inspire deep conversations between fanbases).

(I'm guessing) the daughters parents are dropping the charges - so everything will be fine...I think Davis doesn't want to take his scholarship because he's a talented kid who will be picked up by another school, he would never make it to a JUCO. Although that theory works out morally and ethically, but those don't exisit anymore

It was. I posted stuff I was reading on PackPride on the NC State thread. Wilson/Glennon were both sharp (combined 33 of 52 for 467 yards and 2 TDs) though Wilson left early to go join the baseball team. Defense shut down the running game. Announced attendance of more than 21K.

Yeah, that would have to be about the only way he could get out of it though it makes you wonder why the heck they brought the complaint in the first-place. I wouldn't drop them if it was one of my daughters but then, any 18 year old wanting to date one of my daughters when they are 14 would have the complete understanding that the Law would be the least of his worries if he touches my daughter. I am a NCSU redneck after all. :laugh1:

Though, getting my degree in Statistics doesn't help my redneck image.
