Hawatha Bell, Rashad Mason, Jamal Womble, and Randy White are no longer part of North Carolina’s football team, a UNC official confirmed Monday morning.

Former prized recruit Jamal Womble is one of five players leaving the North Carolina football program, a school spokesman confirmed Monday.

Womble, a four-star running back from Arizona, has decided to transfer as has receiver Rashad Mason. Tight end Randy White left the program, linebacker Hawatha Bell was dismissed, and tight end Vince Jacobs will graduate in May and leave the program.

Womble, a redshirt freshman, ran for 41 yards on six carries before breaking his right wrist in the sixth game. Womble, on his Facebook page, cited academic problems as the reason for leaving UNC.

Reserves Mason, a sophomore; White, a redshirt freshman; and Jacobs, a junior did not register a statistic this season.

Bell, a freshman linebacker from Charlotte who redshirted this season, was suspended for the bowl game and ultimately dismissed from the team.

2* Prizell Brown - DNQ, never enrolled
2* DJ Bunn - DNQ, Hargrave, enrolling at UNC next year (supposedly)

Remember when Collin argued that Amato never had a class like Butch's 2009 class. Good times!!! Botch's '09 class is a 20-25th ranked class at this point with so many defections. Some rumors floating around that the 2008 class might get a little smaller soon too.

Jacobs - 3* (I believe this was the dude who was a 2* and then the day after committing to UNC magicly becomes a 3* on Scout)
Bell - 4*

The Chief's Waiver Wire getting hot again I guess. Nothing like claiming to be the youngest team in the country for a record 4th straight year I believe.

 

I knew a waiver wire comment was forthcoming... I thought you clowns used the term waiver wire do describe letting go of players with less staaaaaaaaaaaaaas and unlikely to contribute. Why are there 3 4 staaaaaaaaaaaaaa players on that list then?

Womble couldn't make the grades - transferring to a JUCO with plans on coming back (I'll believe that when I see it).

Bell broke team curfew during the bowl game (by several HOURS....probably not his first offense, but this is what I heard).

Not sure about the others.

 

According to you idiots, DNQ is no reason to not enroll (cough cough, Dwight Jones)

Would you have rather Hadley enrolled?

 

Speaking of Jones, I heard he is on the chopping block also.
