the real UNC

I know how Carolina fans operate. I WAS one for 18 years. I have Blue Heaven on videotape downstairs. I have every Carolina Court from when they first started making them up through about 2000. I pretty much know the 1982 national championship game by heart.

That said, now that I'm a 49er, everything that ABCers have said about Carolina fans has become painfully apparent. Past-dwelling, holier-than-thou, spoiled, and will try to prove ANYTHING with comparisons and statistics (Fever, that's you). 75% of all UNC fans are pure assholes, and what's worse, I used to be that way. They think that storied history and assloads of money entitle them to everything. It's completely sickening.

I will not sit here and say that Charlotte's basketball history compares to Carolina's. I will take offense, however, at the notion that we have always been a "sorry" program (our Final 4 trophy and 9 NCAA banners may beg to differ), and that we would add nothing to your schedule when, according to you, a mid-major like UNCW would. And by the way, the little argument about how Dean never played in-state OOC games is laughable - Carolina played UNCA at least twice in the early- to mid-90s, and played ASU several times as well.

It's time to realize that Carolina is no longer god of the basketball world, and that money doesn't buy class or respect.

 

I don't recall anybody saying that UNCC sucks other than being sarcastic. I just for one with the exception of one year think UNC has been a better team. I think the stats prove that. Last year the stats show we were a better team, they also show that UNCW was a better team. Sure UNCC play us very close twice and I am positive if we played every year you guys would be us some, but overall we would win more it's just a fact at this point and time. Now if Iti is what he is suppose to be, then you guys may be the greatest thing since sliced "cornbread". Most of the 49er fans(not all) on here bitch and moan, while acting the same way you stated I and most UNC fans do above. What a fucking joke, you are doing the same thing you claim me to be, but I can't stand strong and support my team? By the way I didn't become a turncoat after 18 years, so when did you change teams? guessing the year we went 8-20.

So what would you like us UNC fans to do? When the numbers say we are better and we don't play you guys one on one, to say no, UNCC is the better team because they have a bunch of asshole fans that think they are???

 

For a group who thinks that UNC sucks and is past its prime, y'all sure bitch a lot that we won't play you. And as for the scared comment that is hilarious. Same for the whole mid major thing. Based on the previous 2 years UNCW is better than both UNC and UNCC. It doesn't really matter what conference they play in. Navy played in a shitty conference when they had David Robinson - but that didn't make them a bad team. Gonzaga plays in a crappy conference too. And I know this will make you shit your plants, but I don't think that CUSA is exactly the cream of the major conferences either, rating behind the ACC, Big East, Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, and Pac 10. I know, I know - I am using those pesky facts and stats again aren't I, TF.

As for your history as a Tar Heel fan, I really don't see what that has to do with anything - you idiots try to lump every Heel fan into one category because it makes it easier to disount the records, consistency, etc. Have we had a few down years? Yep. Would you bet on that continuing now that Roy is in town? I wouldn't.

And as for your dumbass comment about somebody saying that UNCC has "always been a "sorry" program." Who said that? And I still have to ask - exactly what does playing UNCC add to Carolina's schedule? So far the only response has been that y'all would be a better team to play than UNCW because your conference is better than theirs.

 

Last year I’ll certainly give you, but in 02-03, Charlotte was 20 places higher than UNCW. You were right about them being better than Chapel Hill though.

Honestly, I could care less about playing Chapel Hill. It would be nice, but no more so than having a home at home with any local ACC or SEC school.

 

Finally, an intelligent poster. Thanks for the correction on RPI 2 years ago. But over the last 2 years UNCW has been 51 & 57, with UNCC being 95 & 37. And in that period they aquitted themselves pretty well against Indiana & Maryland - which went on to lose in the championship game, & was the defending champ, respectively - in the 1st round of the NCAAs.

I honestly don't understand why more UNCC fans don't feel the way you do about playing UNC. I could care less about any team turning down the opportunity to play us. Screw 'em. And I also find it funny that all of the vitrol is unleashed on the Heels when Duke, Wake, and State also snub you.

 

State played us in 01. We trashed them.

 

How often do you guys play ACC teams? How many a year?
