    The original Black and Tan is a draft beverage made by pouring Harp lager and Guiness stout. They are made by the same brewery. The bartender uses the spoon to pour slowly so the layers stay separated. A "Half and Half" (which may or may not be an American concoction) is Guiness Stout poured with an ale, usually Bass here. Which upon further review leads me to belive that its an American thing because no proper Irishman could stand to have an Irish brew contaminated by an English brew, and vicey versey.
