Why the Bible rewrite? What gives? Why the change? Did they find out that the dinosaurs really did exsist? Or that everyone elses religon is right and they were wrong?

I think it is due another re-write. Get rid of the Olde English and the "selling your sister into slavery" stuff. Maybe they can get Tom Clancy to do some of the work. A forward by Chuck Norris?

If you look at the King James Bible(this is the one I know the best) as it is, it is written for a time when slavery was common and woman were nothing more then commodities. Monogamy was not a common practice either. In order to reach people of this day and age it has to be modernized. The more modern the less likely it will be called contradictory and the more believable it will be to the children of this time. You have to reel them in some how. The general idea I believe they have is if the base story line is the same IE the ten commandments and "God" being the only way to heaven then what difference does it really make? Sorry if this does not answer you question.

Because the bible is just a bunch of stories made up and written by man anyway...so why not rewrite it.

Isn't the bible supposedly the word of god? If so should it not be followed strictly and not tampered with?

Exactly what "rewrite" are we talking about here? Do you mean some new translation of existing documents?

That is what I was always taught but now a days I hear more and more about different versions of the bible. Some have extra stories and some have removed stories. I now believe that the bible is the best sold fictional story book out there. Though it may have some good lessons and pointers for humans it is still a book written by man. If "God" had a hand in writing it there would be no need for new translations or updated versions.
