Luckily Weinke didn't blather on about promising to learn the playbook or chopping wood. He did seem determined to be back up there and I think the difference was in the ability for Fox to suggest that this move wasn't permanent.

So he can talk the game - he's not pouting, and you hope he follows through.

John Fox could be a hell of a salesman. I was so damn mad when I heard about this last night and now he's got me believing that Peete is going to get us a victory this weekend.

The D is going to have to do MOST of the work. Peete can run an efficient offense, but nothing that will lay your ears back.

I think Fox may have been worried about Weinke pulling a Mike Watkins, which was really Watkins' best imitation of Weinke vs. Washington.

What I'm trying to say is that Fox hopes Peete is more like Dilfer in 2000.

    I hope this was clear.

no, not really. I didn't find much wrong with Weinke's Washington performance at all. Passes were on target. Peete as Dilfer makes sense in some ways but if this team is pretending it wants to get to the playoffs, and then there's mention of Rodney Peete in there anywhere, then I need to go vomit.

But this picture is perfectly clear.

We dump Beuerline for Lewis - but then dump Lewis and Start Weinke. Weinke loses 15 straight, so we draft a DE and then start Peete.

The simple plan of building a championship franchise. Crystal Clear.

    oh. yeah, that's about right.

And just think, we thought Kerry Collins would still be here, mediocre as ever.
