I think that would be a mistake. I'm not a believer in Atlanta and the Nationals are still struggling. Then again, without Halladay that pitching staff no longer looks formidable. Philadelphia doesn't have high level prospects ready to contribute either, so maybe you do build on the fly by dealing. The roster is so old, though, that if you're rebuilding at all then you really need to dump everyone.

Halladay is done in Philly. Lee would bring the most players back but I'd still prefer to keep him. Utley is in his last year as is Young so if they can get some good prospects than so be it. I have never warmed up to Papelbon so trading him won't hurt my feelings. With both the Yanks and the BoSox wanting Young maybe one o them will trade a better bat. The Phillies really need some bats and relief pitching

The bidding for Cuban pitcher Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez is over, and the winner is the Philadelphia Phillies, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo. Gonzalez's contract with the Phillies is for six years and $50 million, with incentives potentially pushing the deal to $60 million.

The 26-year old Gonzalez is reportedly major league ready according to Jose Contreras, another Cuban defector who spurred a bidding war. Philly beat out the Red Sox for Gonzalez's services.

Opinions on Gonzalez are all across the board. In his scouting report on Gonzalez, Bill Badler of Baseball America believes that Gonzalez has the ceiling of a #3 starter and the floor of a long reliever, which is one hell of a spread. Gonzalez has four pitches, including a forkball, and his fastball generally sits in the mid-90s.

I love Baseball America but they're notoriously low on Cuban players, including Puig and Cespedes. I have no clue whatsoever about Gonzalez, but it's a reasonable risk for Philadelphia.

Papelbon can suck my left nut.

Nine games in a row lost. Rumors have Phillies and Rangers talking about Young. Phillies just can't score runs consistently. Middle relief continues to be the teams Achilles. Also Utley may get a extension before wee over. Shit Tigers just traded for Astro closer so Papelbon may not be moved. Maybe the Pirates would take him. Amaro time to start shucking players

The only thing Papelbon cares about is Papelbon. He's lost some velocity on his FB. I wouldn't want the dickhead either.

Charlie Manuel is out as manager of the Philadelphia Phillies and has been replaced by Ryne Sandberg on an interim basis, the team announced Friday.

Welcome back Roy if only for 3-4 more starts. I hope Amaro gets fired or he'll resign Halladay for stupid money

Sweet! Resign Carlos Ruiz to a three year deal. Really need a right handed power bat in the lineup next
