Hamels pulls a rare feat, beats the Bravos with a complete game shutout. Excellent job!

Cole Hamels returns on the investment again with his second straight shutout. 8 games under 500 but something to be happy with

Well almost a month has past since all the trades and the Phillies have played right at .600 ball since the moves. By no means am I thinking playoffs but has given players like Brown and Mayberry chances to play a lot and let Manuel and GM Amaro see what they have. This off season they need to go out and get a legitimate 3rd baseman, an outfielder who can lead off and some help in middle relief . Halladay, Lee, Hamels are a strong base to work from but they can't hit and you can not expect them to pitch complete games everyday nor should they. Kendrick has really pitched well the last month going something like 4-1 with a sub 4 era. Maybe you move him to San Diego as partif a deal for Headley? Who knows. Just glad they are playing better

4 games under .500. Phillies playing like .620 baseball the last 5-6 weeks. Where was this in may and June? Oh that's right on the DL

2 games under .500 and 6 games out of the dare I say wildcard. Not saying itll happen but after playing so bad up through the trade dead line it's fun to see them play this well

:punk: I almost wish the season was a bit longer and the Phillies, with the way they are playing could make a serious run for a wild car. Playing at a .640 clip and knocking the ball all over the place

Wow it looks like there is some validity to the Cliff Lee rumors. Lee is being mentioned to be traded to the D-Backs for Justin Upton. Upton is young and good, although not sure how much he makes. Starting pitching would be ok with Halladay, Hamels, Worley, Kendrick and Cloyd and it would fix the centerfield hole since it doesn't appear they want to sign Bourn.

Arizona would have no interest in trading Upton for Cliff Lee. They want a young shortstop.

The Texas Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies are in advanced discussions on a trade that would send 3B Michael Young to Philadelphia, a deal that would include the Rangers eating more than half of his remaining $16 million in salary. The Rangers would likely receive a young major league reliever along with a lower-level prospect.

I would have liked him 5 years ago, but if they eat more than half of his salary for a couple of minor leaguers what the hell. Still need to address a setup man and CF. I'm betting Bourn signs soon. Great defense and average bat
