First off, if somebody could sticky this, this could keep us from having 12,000 "I won the lottery" and "I'm pissed! I didn't win the lottery" threads.

Now, on to why I posted this. I remember back in '04 when we went to the SB and I got my "You won the ticket lottery" letter, it was about now. So, PSL owners should be getting letters this week as to whether they won or not. I remember it was about now because I got mine right before the Iggles game and I was a basketcase during the whole game because I knew that if we won, I was going to Houston.

And no, I'm not trying to jinx us. I was just mentioning this little fact to keep us from doing what we always do; starting 12,000 threads on the same subject.

Digging into my archives, I found the "so sorry" letter dated (not postmarked) Friday, Jan 16, 2004. We played Philly on Sunday, Jan 18. I probably received the letter on Monday, the 19th. So yeah, you are correct. The lottery was held prior to Conference Championship weekend.

How many tickets are given to each team, and is there any preference for having a better psl?

the two teams split 35% of the seats. That is around 11,375 tickets per team (assuming 65,000 capacity). The team then gets to decide how many of those go towards season ticket holders and how many go to Suite Holders, Sponsors, and employees. to my knowledge, every PSL gets the same priority.

Law, I really don't think so. The fellow that sits in front of me had only 2 PSLs in '03. I have 4 and a friend of his had 4 and we (myself and the guy w/4) each got tix to Houston, but the 2 PSL guy didn't. Some other people that had more than 2 PSLs won the lottery and got 2 tix to the SB.

I really don't think there was any preferences as to where your PSLs were when they drew. This couple that was on the charter with us to Houston sit in the upper deck (if they still have their PSLs) and mine are club level endzone (upper lower deck but not the snobby club level where "the public" can't access--mine are in sect. 231). So, I guess anybody has a chance at winning the lottery.

And to answer your question about how my seats were in Houston, THEY SUCKED!!! I was in the way upper deck right over our tunnel and I couldn't see jack because I was sitting under an air conditioner vent and they were drying out my contacts. And not to mention I froze to death! I forget what sect. we were in (the 700 sect.? ) but it was way the fuck up there. What little bit I could see between blinks, I enjoyed it. I mainly enjoyed the atmosphere even tho we lost. :ylsuper:

    In 2004:

The Patriots and Panthers each received about 11,200 tickets, according to the NFL. The Patriots say they distributed half their allotment to season ticketholders through a lottery. The club distributed the others to sponsors, business clients, assorted team personnel and former players.

Panthers President Mark Richardson says his team put 8,000 tickets into a lottery for holders of Private Seat Licenses (PSLs). PSLs require a payment up front for the right to buy season tickets.

right. it has more to do with how many, not where they are. we have 4 club levels (where the snobs sit) and didn't win the lottery.

i heard most of the seats were bad. my plan was, if we won the lottery, to flip the lottery seats for a profit and use that against buying decent lowers. at the end of the day, i just had to come off the hip for the lower corners we had.

i know that the team gets quite a few kick ass seats between the 40's on their sideline. but like i said, they have the discretion on who to give them to. usually, they are sponsors and suite owners. I believe it is in the Suite Owner Contract that they get a certain number of SB tix if the team goes.

The formula for the SB lottery is:
    # of PSL's x years you have had them = number of chances in the lottery

So having 2 PSL's for 11 years would give me 22 chances.
