I think that the people at Fox have not quite understood the difference between European women and American women.

In Europe, there has been a long history of relationship that are different than in America. There have been marriages for political reasons, marriages for monetary reasons. There have been well known mistresses as well - all public knowledge. In the European culture, it is seen as OK to marry just for money or for whatever reason you want.

In America, I think society sees things differently. We frown on mistresses. We frown on marriage for any reason other than "true love" (as if we really knew what that was).

In the first Joe Millionaire, the guy said many times that he wanted to know whether the women would marry him for who he was or for the money he pretended to have.

Having European women makes that point moot. European women, as a society, would not blink twice in marrying for money - and saying so in public.

It is seen as only helping you along, not something "bad".

In the second episode, you could see the previews showing that the women are already harping on the guy about the money. They want to know all about it. This is because the only reason they would marry him (most likely, at least) is for the money.

 

I dont thinks all of the girls are playing just for the money .Therer is one girl that he keep the look like she realy like him and not becuase of is money

 

i think fox 'gets' the marriage for money issue in the european culture. this poor bastard is clueless as to how those over there see things. i thought it beautiful when he would say grace.
