I think the Olympics solidified that. Hopefully it woke some people/players up.

Part of the problem is the imbalance of the league still.

    >>seattle, dallas, sacramento, miami, the wizards, san antonio

I'd add Phoenix to that list. It may not win in the playoffs (but it may with Amare giving some inside D), but its fun to watch.

Bobcats don't really deserve mention in that yet, other than being a Charlotte fan. They play together, but if there's a team they are patterned after, it seems to be the Pistons.

Peja Stojakovic SF Sacramento Kings (Serbia)
Dirk Nowitzki PF Dallas Mavs (Germany)
Yao Ming C Houston Rockets (China)
Manu Ginobili SG San Antonio Spurs (Argentina)
Steve Nash PG Phoenix Suns (Canada)

Dayum. That's a scary looking team. If i wanted to build the ultimate running ream, this might be it. Yao can't run, but hell. And since nobody here can defend, every game will be +100.

Oooo, Replace Yao with Andrei Kirilenko (Russia), play Dirk at Center

It won't wake up any NBA players because the NBA is still based on one vs. one matchups. Whoever this mismatch is, that's the point of attack. And the majority will alway think that way.

Actually, you are seeing less of the one on one play. Used to be "team with best player" or two players wins. Jordan/Pinnen, The Dream, Duncan, Shaq/Kobe.

But now teams built that was are failing. Lakers and Kobe, Philly and Iverson, Minnesota and Garnett, all are struggling for playoff spots.

Even in Cleveland, which doesn't have a strong #2 from James, plays much better as a team because Lebron is pretty unselfish and is such a good passer. I see much more of a more athletic Magic than the next Jordan in his game.

    LeBron is special...

This is not a newsflash, but I was up here in Ohio iced and snowed under and had a chance to watch the Cavs play Golden State over the air out of Cleveland (WUAB 43 The Block). I love how Lebron got another Triple Double, 2nd in 4 nights (granted GS is wack), however, imagine being responsible for 40-60 pts a night and not all scoring. Getting Z the ball in his spots, opening up the game for McGinnis and Snow, and of course, the ability to take over if necessary.

I look for more fundamental B-ball coming up and shooters being in prime again.

LeBron has exceeded the considerable hype he's come in with, isn't a jackass like Kobe, isn't a punk like many guys, appreciate his fans (remember a game earlier where he stood up and applauded the fans in gund arena?) and seems to be a decent guy.

dwayne wade doesn't get quite as much hype, but he's a great player and he keeps his nose clean. throw in other young guys like okafor who's a respectable winner who actually graduated early and dwight howard, who's a squeaky clean bible thumper, we might see the NBA re-emerge. don't think it could ever surpass the NFL, but that's ok.
