he did well there. He was also a lot less comfortable in what he was doing - had real coordinators, wasn't spending so much time with the golf, and didn't have to play FSU. Even his last couple years in Florida, he didn't put as much into it.

Explain why he should go to UNC? He went from major college program, to the pros, took a year off, and he's supposed to go to a team that already had/has incredibly bad defensive problems, none of which Spurrier would be able to/want to fix? He couldn't land real coordinators, other than buying Marvin Lewis, and there won't be a Bob Stoops just clamoring to get in on this trainwreck. At best, Spurrier would be inheriting a horrible program in which he'd only be enhancing a decent offense and wallowing for years attempting to upset the NC States and Marylands of the world so they can get through the schedule and get stomped by the Florida teams. Which, of course, I'm sure he's oh-so-ready to do with a subpar program.

    So, why again?

    He ain't coming - period.

Might as well start saying Bill Walsh is coming to coach UNC. Maybe Jimmie Johnson or Howard Schnellenberger (sp?) How about Vince Dooley? lets get a big long list of former big name college coaches that AREN'T coming to UNC.

Y'all would be a lot better off to go hire a young, up and coming coordinator from outside the ACC who'll bring a lot of quality assistants. Build a program - hell, Spurrier was talking about coaching "maybe 5 more years" when he went into the NFL.

Might not be able to catch a guy like Miami's Randy Shannon or LSU's Jimbo Fisher, but getting a guy like Georgia's Brian Vangorder, or Tulsa's head coach Steve Kragthorpe, or North Texas' head coach Darrell Dickey.

why don't you give ME some links

and I don't mean a bunch of yahoos on the "premium" board that know somebody that know somebody that knows somebody's brother's sister-in-law that lives in Florida and goes to the same dry cleaners that Spurrier's pool guy uses.

You'll find just as many people on the premium board that say he ain't coming.

And maybe Baddour is after him hard - but it ain't like Baddour carries a very big stick these days.
