    Laettner's shot won the game that most people agree is the greatest college basketball game ever.

    I was 10 in 1982 so correct me if I am wrong but weren't the Heels tied when Jordan hit his shot? Worst case they go to OT. Not the same pressure. I seem to also recall that he was pretty much open and squared to the basket. Laettner had to catch a full court pass and make a turn around jumper with a hand in his face. And if he missed, they lost. All in 1.2 seconds. And I have to say that shot is pretty much responsible for establishing Duke as the program it is today. A dynasty if you will. Without that shot there is a good chance Duke would have gone the way of your Arkansas or Villanova. One hit wonders.

    It was 2.1 seconds, but I agree that Laettner's shot was much more impressive than Jordan's shot.

    Hell, his shot against UCONN was tougher as well.

    And don't forget, both of those shots were true buzzer beaters, while Jordan and Worthy still had to rely on good pal Freddie Brown to come through.

    Panther Paul, is anyone really stupid enough to compare Laettner to Jordan in pro careers? I didn't think so.

    It was the winning basket, but it was only the final shot because of dumbass Fred Brown throwing that pass to Worthy. If that hadn't happened, Georgetown probably would have run down and hit the final shot.

    I have to say though I was not disappointed that Carolina won that game. I think I hated Patrick Ewing and Georgetown more than I hated the Heels that year.

    But Laettner's shot was still better. :D

    I just love how all the dookies and abcers love to use this logic.

    and of course we all know that if langdon hadn't tripped over his big toe that dook would've beat UCONN. Damn UCONN was so lucky - they should hang thier heads in shame and give the trophy back.

    Wossa finally got something right. Who would have thunk it?

    Langdon's trip was equivalent to Brown's pass and Chris Webber's TO.

    Finally we are all in agreement.

    Duke = 4 National Championships
    UNC = 1 National Championship

    In a just world anyway... :(

    Instead Duke shat away one while UNC backed into two. Oh well, life goes on.

    except the big difference is UNC MADE the PLAYS to be AHEAD at the end of the game. The team that wins is the team that scores the MOST points. Mistakes are a part of the game. Important thing is to get the LEAD so that you aren't hurt by your own mistakes and can take advantage of the other teams turnovers.

    The fact that the dookies still can't grasp that fact is beyond me. Of course I'm sure it just to the point of button pushing now.
