The most over-rated band of all time

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by Cath Ddu, Dec 8, 2002.

  1. not a band -- Cher...

  2. Then you know absolutely nothing about music. You need to consider the time they hit, what they accomplished in the studio with the technology at that time, and what they have done to change the landscape of music universally.

My #1 vote - Elvis Presley.

Wasn't indicative of what they do. That happens a lot - one hit wonders getting a song like that played on the radio that's really unlike anything else they do. It's not for everybody but I like what they do...but don't like that song.

Bad Company - why I never listed to Classic Rock radio
    Van Halen, Sammy or Dave
    Aerosmith
Any of those generic bands out now with numbers in thier name
    Fleetwood Mac
Sex Pistols (lots of better punk bands our there even in the beggining)
    REM
    U2

I like Dylan, but that's what I gew up with. My Dad listened to little else than Folk Rock. Dylan was some of the better, grittier stuff, opposed to Gordon Lightfoot or James Taylor, who is just too much syrup.

God said to Abraham, kill me a son.
Abe said man, you must be putting me on.
God said no, Abe said, what?
God said you can do what you want but next time you see me coming you better run.
Abe said where you want this killing done?
God said down on Highway 61.

No offense Piper, but who would you consider to be a punk band BEFORE the Sex Pistols? They were the first and the best!

The first, best and definitive punk band was The Ramones. They kicked the hell out of the Sex Pistols in style, energy, and songwriting. Iggy Pop was a lot more entertaining. The Clash were 10 times the band.

The Sex Pistols were to me more a marketing ploy on punk music than an actual band.

There were lost of punk bands playing at CBGBs before the music got to London.
