Horrid as you know. Obviously you're not looking for an answer as much as to make a point, and yeah, you made it.

And remember they drafted two QBs high as well. That didn't save them either.

    right you are.

for as spotty as those high-pick QBs have been and given the panthers' draft history -- they'll probably come up with a doozie. just think, it cant get any worse than ryan leaf.

I confirmed that Jeffers thing for WAY back there.

And yea, you're absolutely right. Boy that brings back memories. I still remember watching Buffalo win that game against Houston and that feeling I had when I heard the news, "Panthers get Reich!"

If they're so damn much about winning why throw things into disarray entering the regular season with a new system? Why not do it last week, they played pretty crappy against NE. This whole thing smells of just throwing the puzzle pieces in a bag shaking it up and dumping it, then bitching because the picture hasn't formed. If it makes smith and moose shake their asses a little well that would be nice, but it would be better to sit smith or moose, but this guy hasn't the balls to do that. It's turning into a chinese fire drill and it's not even october yet.

I see your point but what I don't see is we are talking a "1 Year Vet" not a proven winner in the NFL or a guy that took the league by storm. Be it Peete or Fasani, if either gets in which it appears Peete will... and lets say by some odd happening, Peete stays our guy the whole year... then we have not pussyfooted around with Winky, we merely benched him and what would we have lost? A one year vet - nothing.

Its obvious from some reads in this mornings fish wrapper that Winky is still the guy, long term. I hope in all of this, our coaching staff does not forget the 2 games Fasani demonstrated his "come from behind" mentality and his ability to put "fire" on the field... which by the way was something Fox said Winky lacked...

Anyway - I'm excited... I'm excited that our coaching staff has not bowed down to the expectations of fans and the media. I just hope they keep that mentality throughout the year....

That's what Collins was supposed to be.

May or may not work out.

No matter what we think, Peete starts Sunday. I would have been happier starting Fasani and putting Weinke number 2. Fasani may not "be ready" but he's readier than Peete, in my opinion. My guess is, against Baltimore's D, we'll see 2 ints from Peete in the first half.

No, my point is exactly that. Weinke hasn't proven anything, but he's our guy. Find out exactly what he has, on the field, and if he's not your guy, dump him. I'm fearing this will be Fox's MO, a quick hook for "whoever," and IMO there no quicker way to split a team.

Having that carrott out there could divide the team. I'd hate to see in 2003, the team (forget about a message board) divided between Fasani, Weinke, and a new savior.

I don't want a carosuel, where if you get benched, just wait a couple of games until the next guy screws up. That's too much like Cinci.

I'm more concerned from a fantasy football perspective... ;) the more coaches that do this the less dependable back ups you can have on your roster...

In regards to Fasani, I'm glad he is not the starter (yet) cause I have never been too high as a general rule in the NFL for rookie QBs to start. I know it happens and some go on to be great, some get drafted in the first 3 picks and make swift exits from the NFL. To me, QB is one of the positions that should not be starting rookies opening day.

That said, I am curious why, despite his 5 or so TD drives, 77 yards rushing, 2 rushing TDs, Fasani did not get honorable mention to start???

I'm starting to wonder if they haven't already decided that he's 'not their guy', and they're doing tip-toes around it to see how the locker room reacts.

Honestly, I don't see the locker room being split over Weinke. We're talking 15 in a row.

Honestly, I bet the frustrated players welcome the change. It will be a different team out there with Peete. After 1-15, different is good.

It's likely as simple as 'Peete gives us the best chance to win Sunday', and simply, that's REALLY BAD for Weinke.

  10. The logic they are using is flawed...they say Peete is experienced in Henning's offense from his days in Detroit. Here's the facts with that one. The RB's name was Barry Sanders, the two WR's were in thier primes..Herman Moore and Brett Perriman, and the OL had two pro-bowlers...Lomas Brown and Kevin Glover. Hmm, something tells me that the Panthers aren't quite up there to that talent level. Peete made dumb ass mistakes constantly..that's why they signed Scott Mitchell after Peete and Erik Kramer kept fucking up...not to mention Andre Ware.

Back then, Peete had the luxury of having number 20 behind him which meant both safeties played closer, a play action would get 2 or 3 steps out of LB rather than one, etc...and he still couldn't get the job done. Throughout his career, he has always made the dumbass mistake. Oh yeah, he can't take a hit without coughing it up. He can't play hurt...he often laughs after throwing ints.

This reminds me of last year when MorningWood benched Charlie Batch in favor of Ty Detmer (who was with another team for all of camp). The reason was the same, he knew the offense better. The quotes are almost identical. Ty proceeded to throw 7 ints in one game.
