It bothers me too a lot... but giving the nod to Winky was not the answer... he never demonstrated hands down he was the guy... people can argue he was, people can argue he was not... the bottom line, the guy that left him in (when he was not hurt) left him in all last year.. the guy that said he will not be the starter benched him... (works for us now) hell, who knows...

Fasani doesn't enter into this. Fasani has not been mentioned in any of this by the team.

    >>but giving the nod to Winky was not the answer.

John Fox - "this is not an indictment of Chris Weinke. Chris is our quarterback for the future. "

    >>We don't really have a starter settled as in, yeah, he's our guy, and my fear is we will have this Miller, Mathews, McNown type situation.

Very much so. We could get rid of Beuerlein, and did so partly because of cap concerns. Same with Lewis. Weinke, to a point, has cap concerns, but neither he nor Fasani would have to be cut, and both will be competitive enough that if we continue to be irrational and want to inspire fear rather than develop and fix, both could stay. And neither keep us from going out and getting a quarterback.

And I applaud them... Winky should have never been thrown in as the starter last year...

I am a ok with Fasani coming in the 2nd or 3rd game... trust me... I know he may not be able handle stealing a job and starting the first NFL game...

this is good work by the staff... keep it up... :applause:

Fasani is the third quarterback. He's not going to be playing by the third game. Randy Fasani does not enter into this.

i liked weinke as much as the next guy, but what has weinke ever shown any of us that he could be a 10-year starter in the NFL? he's decent. he's not a stud. he can be effective.

maybe they looked at the tape and weinke was missing some pretty obvious reads -- reads that fox wasn't comfortale letting him miss. i think fox wants to win and (usually) when you go with a veteran, it's because they have more experience. i'll bet peete won't make those mistakes.

i'm guessing that they weren't seeing weinke "get it" over the course of a preseason.

sandy, weinke DEFINATELY had better players around him in college than he does right now (relatively speaking). weinke's not the guy you build a team around, he's the one you bring in to make the good read and get the ball to the right guy and let their talent put it in the end zone.

he had some questionable reads in college, too, but for the most part he was right on.

not sure what his problem is, but fox needs to see better decisions made by him. that's the bottom line.

can anyone here disagree with that?

i've seen weinke play much better than he has in the nfl. i'm sure his head is swimming a bit with learning seifert's way, now fox's way, but that's where this may help -- he can watch peete run it and look at the film during the week.

but fox wants to win, so he's doing what's best for the team. short term and long.

where does fasini fit in? he should look at this as his big opportunity. he's further away from being NFL-ready than weinke because weinke has at least experienced the speed difference and has been in big games.

i want whatever's best for the team. i think that this helps instill a winning spirit in the team. that's a good thing.
