I love college football, but I often think about how do all those many asst coaches keep moving and moving one place to another seems every few years, and many have families.

    a nomadic life for many.

It's a nomadic life for sure. I know an assistant who has moved 4 times in the last 8 years. He has two children so his wish is to hook on somewhere and stay but the chances of that are not good.

Must be tough trying to raise a family while working through the coaching ranks. Personally, I think these guys should wait until they've established themselves before having kids. Of course, I'm sure that's easier said than done.

Believe me, it's not that tough. As of April 2007, 1,426,700 US service members were living a similar lifestyle...picking up and moving their homes and families every 2-3 years, all between 15 month deployments to Iraq.

when a person chooses their career, the location(s) and hours, schedule, etc is known as well and how that affects family planning and raising children I suppose.

It's still tough. It's just not as tough as that.
