Lionel Richie and Willie Nelson were in horn lines but that doesn't make them Charlie Parker, now does it?

Well, you play the sax. That doesn't exactly make you Kenny G.

God I hope not. And I'm not Maceo either. But I'm not pumping myself up, I know my level. At any rate, you're dodging. They're not on that level. If you like Slayer, like them without getting your panties in a bunch when someone calls them not pure punk...as if punk has standards.

If you really like Kenny G we're done talking about music.

I used to like Kenny G. I played the sax for 7 years. Haven't touched it in a long time. Yes, Slayer is not pure punk, but they are definitely punk influenced. And like you said, what is pure punk anyway. Everything from Talking Heads, Clash, and The Ramones are considered punk but sound nothing alike. My point was calling Slayer a 5th generation band when they have been around for over 20 years is bs. They are one of the few old skool bands from the 80's that are still around. And they never had any mainstream success and they never faltered from their sound. That sounds a little punk to me.

    Question

On a scale of 1-10 where does Sherl Crow fall? At times she looks sexier than hell with that crooked mouth and other times she looks likes a bar slut you have had your way with and want to get rid of?:aorangeha

Punk was always more movement than sound, more of a vibe. That's why you can get everyone from early B-52s to Sonic Youth called a punk band.

I just don't hear it in Slayer, few times I've cared to listen. I hear it in Pavement, but in reality, if you didn't play at CBGBs, I'm not sure you qualify.

And even then, I'm not sure. The Police played there. (I do like the Police, but punk they ain't. And Sting should be shot, big sellout. Go sell your cars, ya patsy.)

Through bashing Slayer, but bashing Creed is a bit too easy. Sort of like bashing KennyG. It's no fair hunting a caged rabbit.

yeah, I play a little funk sax in town. I occasionally play baroque in ensemble, I'm supposed to play something gospel on Easter Sunday but I'm not sure what exactly.

Sure, I can do that for you. If nothing else post it in Testing or something and then PM it to me because I'm absent-minded.

Yeah, I used to have a pretty regular gig with baroque. Kinda miss it.

This isn't my church. It's in Greensboro I believe...the guy who I'm playing with basically went to the best opportunity and I was requested as part of the deal. I've had the chance to run with this group before but never played there. I've only gigged as far as Durham with church music but that was sight reading out of hymnals.
