    Who said Capel was very good? He was a communications major, which is probably part of why he was announcing for the ACC tourney. Heck, maybe he knew Lil Mama... lol

    Doherty needed to go moron. I never questioned that. The REASON FOR THE DOWN YEAR (WHICH IS WHAT WE ARE DEBATING) IS THE LACK OF TALENT GUTHRIDGE LEFT. You don't know SHIT about UNC basketball. As I said Gutheridge left nothing at UNC. All Doherty had was one years worth of talent. That gave him the good season you reference. The year of 8-20 everyone with talent left. Adam fucking Boone was the starting point guard. Kris Lang and Jason Caple would at BEST be bench players on this years team. Maybe you should get your facts straight before YOU start claiming to be a tar heel fan.

    I remember his 1 NCAA trip. Beat Navy, lost to Penn State in New Orleans. UNC hoops beats Penn State just by showing up. Period.

    But you already knew that after having witnessed UNC hoops as a student for 4 years, right? :hallo:

    Are you a complete idiot or is your dislike (I might actually call it a man crush) of me clouding your hooked on phonics reading ability?
    Please point out anywhere that I said there was ONE and only ONE reason for UNC's down year.
    You said that Doherty came in with no talent, I pointed out that he did have a team in his first year that had just made it to the Final Four other than losing their PG.

    If you'd actually READ and get off your high horse you'd see we're saying basically the same thing. I happen to think the down year was due more to losing their PG and Doherty's coaching style than it was lack of recruits (keep in mind that Doherty accepted the position in July - plenty of time to start recruiting for his second year), but hey, whatever - it really doesn't matter. The 8-20 season happened, but it was ONE season. UNC rebounded nicely.
