Working with the homeless and poor can be very frustrating. Johnny Cash's lyrics gave me a lift today when I needed it, I'm passing it on for anyone else who may get benefit. Not all good guys wear white.

Cash was awesome. He did many religious albums and on one of them he did a song called "The man in white". It was a story song about the conversion of the apostle Paul on Damascus road. Cash did an extensive study of Paul and the song is fairly deep and gives details about Paul's life that only someone who spent a lot of time in research would know.

His life is an inspiration for me as a christian. He was a man who did many great things to further the gospel from appearing with Billy Graham to his gospel music releases. He even did a documentary on the life of Christ filmed in the holy land and filled with his own original music. At the same time he battled demons and drug abuse for many years and was at times a failure as a christian. You do not often see some one's warts and still be able to respect them as a christian but you can do that with Cash. He never pretended to be any better than the rest of us and was not above singing in prisons even at the height of his popularity. Shortly before he died he did a video that showed him in poor health and with a body ravaged by disease and age. Most artists try desperately to hide any imperfection and promote the illusion of eternal youth. Cash was not like that he was all about truth and sincerity.
