Are you saying that the KJV is not reliable?

I believe it is considered by many to be the least accurate of the major translations.

    From Wiki
The New Testament of the King James Version was translated from the Majority Text (also called the Received Text or Textus Receptus). It is called this because the majority of extant (existing) texts (well over 5000) are in agreement with it.

    I think that 1Jn 3:2-5 (particularly vs.3) gets at what you're saying.

I have several translations and have never found anything to be blatently(sp?) inconsistent in it with the other translations.

You should post that whole Wiki sly - you know it talks about liberal translations and such.

Although it makes for an interesting debate, the argument for the accuracy of translation of the KJV would not hold up in court, if such a thing were actually subject to a hearing. It would probably fail: chain of custody, authentication and best evidence standards.

I've never been one to understand the "holy word" crowd, not when the human hand and brain have been introduced to the dissemnination of that material. Sorry, but humanity is flawed, even if you do not question the original source.

The long answer is in Hebrews, chapter 7. Here are some of the highlights:

During a class he was teaching last week, my pastor explained it this way:

"This is oversimplified, but it basically boils down to this: the Old Testament was God saying to Israel, 'You will be My people, and I will be your God. You follow these laws, and I will bless you. You break these laws and I will curse you.' The New Testament is God saying, 'I have taken care of the old law. If you repent and accept me as your Lord and Savior, I will forgive you and give you an eternal life with Me.'"

    Does that help?

Mary did a pretty good job of perfectly delivering her message, didn't she?
