Excellent post..thank you for being so open. The human mind can sink into depravity without Christ.

Yes it did. Thanks for being so honest & open, Abinedab.

I know that a lot of gay people live in denial a long time before they accept themselves; but not everyone who has homosexual experiences is necessarily gay, just as not everyone who has heterosexual experiences in necessarily straight. Childhood abuse can really fuck a person up. It takes many years just to sort out who you are from who you've been told you are.

I used to do child abuse investigations, and I saw people who seemed to have been socialized to all kinds of sexual behavior that other people would consider abnormal or even morally reprehensible. As a result, I believe that a person could be socialized to find pleasure in just about any sexual behavior (it is also important to remember that often sex is about more than sex). Just from my un-scientific observances, though, it seemed people didn't really change their orientation and preferences as much as broaden them, or supress some aspects while emphasizing others.

On the other hand, I know a number of people who have struggled their whole life with a homosexual identity and faith issues. I am convinced that when they say that their orientation is not a choice, that it is true to the deepest part of their being. I am further convinced that a loving God would never create people with a sexual orientation that could not be fulfilled without sinning.

    Very well put- thanks!

yet you said you find yourself fighting physical feelings for other men as evidenced by your quote of....
Not acting on homosexual desires does not make one a heterosexual.

Does not acting on my desire to rob a bank mean I am still a thief?

An interesting question. Might be a situation of comparing apples and oranges, though. A thief is so labeled because of his actions. Is a homosexual defined as such because of his actions, or because of his temptations?
