The church I attend did a lot for Katrina relief. They help out people in the community as well.

I really loved reading this, he really did some good research and seems like a decent person with a good heart.

    Homosexuality

    ROMANS 3:10
Everyone has done wrong things. There is no one who is good.

If homosexualtiy were not a sin, it wouldn't make any difference. We've all done things that are wrong, according to the Bible, and we've all done many different kinds of things. Therefore, what is and what is not a "sin" does not matter. In Isaiah, the Bible tells us that God is extremely disgusted with people who try to be good, strictly on their own efforts (that's putting it nicely).
The important thing is that God has so much love, mercy, grace, and the desire to forgive, that it cannot be measured. Anyone who goes to God with a sincere heart will not be turned away, unless they have refused to go to Him all the way up to and past the point at which they leave this life.

PS: I can address the issue of homosexuality as a Christian man who has "been there; done that; got the Tshirt "(but later disposed of it). Without Christ, and what He has done (and only He could have done) in my life, I am nothing.

Abinedab, welcome to TBR, your insights on this subject will be very enlightening. So, is homosexuality a choice or is it something that you are born with?

curly, the only people who can answer that question with first hand knowledge are gay people. Heterosexuals have no way of knowing what it's like growing up feeling tingling sensations all over your body when Malloy Evans or Ashton Estridge walk by you in the gym buck naked. I didn't single them out. They just happened to be the first two males I ever wanted to touch for reasons I couldnt even explain.

I know that alot of people believe that a person's sexual orientation can't change, and maybe I misunderstood Abinedeb, but I thought he meant that he had been a homosexual and no longer was. I just wanted to hear more about it.

I think the terms are known pretty much everywhere that Christianity is practiced; but what they mean to individuals, including those in Western NC, is what makes the terms offensive to some. As BV pointed out, telling someone they are "lost" & need to be "saved" may, despite any good intentions, come across as an insult & provoke a defensive reaction. The words have been overused in a condescending, judgmental manner by too many. Words are meant to communicate meaning. If what the other person hears is not what you mean, you need to say it a different way in order to be understood.

I took it that way too; & if so, I'd also be interested in learning more.

Just because you want doesn't mean you act and even if you do act it doesn't mean you have to continue acting after you realize that no true satisfaction will come from it.

This applies for me and alcohol. Just a thought.
